so, the tumbler bat bike from the dark knight,

is it an actual functioning vehicle or is it just pulled along by cables? (like in terminator when the truck goes off the bridge)

if so, what sorta engine/drive system does it use and how the hell does the steering work?

I remember watching that thinking what a rubbish prop, it must be CGI, Shirley? I mean how does he even steer it, his left arm is just completely missing in that scene?
