I'm not really well versed in information regarding motorbikes, so by signing up here i hope to get some advice from the veterans of the board! [hopefully]

In the last few months i travelled spontaneously through Europe making it to asia, but i felt that it wasn't really the best way to see the world, so i've decided to work for a few months, get a bike and head-off east into the sunset, to really see the world. [theres no solid plan, i'll just drive and drive] I love life on the road, not knowing where your going to sleep each-night or which magical people your going to run into, the only problem is, i'm not sure which bike.

I've been looking at the Honda C90 as well parts are extremely available so if i have any problems its very likely i can get them fixed cheaply and quickly, the bike can i hear get up to 300 miles a gallon, although some work is required for this [don't quote me!] there's room on the back for belongings and all round its a very reliable bike for under £1000.

The problems bemoaned to me are generally not the hugest issues, as i'm sure i can make my way around [I think] is the unavailability of being able to drive on Motorways, and also the top speed of 50 MPH, which is really no problem compared to the former as i'm in no rush at all.

But the positive is i don't need a full motorbike license for the C90, Just a CBT, I Think.

So what are my other options?

Hopefully i can get some in-depth answers with some possible ideas for other bikes.

Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance!

Aaron

so, with very little experience on a bike, and armed with the most basic bike training there is, you want to go touring the world on a bike?

good luck. honestly.

not sure what the licence requirements are abroad, or even if the cbt is recognised??

more knowledgeable peeps will be along soon no doubt.........

As I said in chat:
C90 can use the motorway here.
Top speed more like 45mph, though depends on the bike you choose.
MPG around 100 or a bit under with 'normal' use.
CBT is not recognised in other countries. You need a full licence.

If you want good economy, unless you're planning to actually do 30mph everywhere, I'd at the very least go for a CG125 or similar, but ideally maybe a gpz500 or something along those lines.

Consider where you're going and the roads you'll be travelling on too.

I've rode bikes many of time on some very wild roads in Asia, although the manual was a killing going up hills with a 60% incline.

I'm not to worried about license information at the moment, i'll do whats needed, although i'm not to worried about the authorities at this exact time - and more interested in biking information, in regards to a bike under this price, which is easily available for repairs all over the world [third world countries] something that is reliable, has a good MPG and is a sound machine,

I feel after the first post i'm going to get a lot of preachers but alot of the spirit seems lost in people to worried about how people are going to do things, rather than giving advice to get them going.

I want to live life day-by-day and authorities and little niggles aren't going to be whats on my mind, as i solely enjoy the wind grazing my face as i ride into the unknown.

I've had both a C-90 and a CG125, and I'd recommend the CG given the choice..

However, a friend of a friend has recently ridden a C-90 from Malaysia to the UK I think, and had a great time by all accounts.
A friend's son rode his CG to Morocco this summer, and back again!

Parts for both are easily available throughout Europe and Asia...They still build CG's in Turkey and Asia, under various names. Loads of both here in Myanmar...

You WILL need a licence though.

Finding a good CG for under a grand? Hmm, dunno, but you'd certainly find a C-90 for that price though. learners seem to like the CG Wink

Anyway, don't let the doomsayers on here put you off! Good luck, and go for it!
