Motorhispania RX50

hi all i am new here and after a bit of advise.
my son got himself a 05 plate Motorhispania RX50 and he got it stolen out of the back garden 1 day after getting it .we got a phone call from the police the other day saying they have got it back after a month.
after getting the bike home they have cut the ignition switch off, taken the micron exhaust off it also the mirrors and back indicators.
my son is working in london for the next few months and his mum wants me to do the bike up for him as a suprise for when he gets home.
my main concern is to see if they have damage the engine.
my mate has been and got power to the ignition by twisting two of the wires together and can get the engine to turn over but we cant get a spark from the spark plug.
can anyone give me any clues on this please.

Most likely just wiring damage. Double check all the wiring.
