Personally unless it is listed I don't bother telling insurance companies that it is being used, as they don't need to know. ____________________ CB125>CG125>GN125>ER5>K100RS>R1100RS>K100RS

That's what they call an "Administrative Fee". I call it a scam.
By the time they've taken the phone call and checked what adding the note to your policy costs, they're virtually ready to add the changes. They want £30 to hit that stupid enter key.
Personally, if you can afford it insurance wise, don't declare any security. Ever. Likewise with telling insurance you keep it on the street when you really keep it in a garage. That way that one time you forget to put the bike away or the one time you forget to put your chain on and it gets stolen, you've got nothing to worry about. ____________________ 2004 R1 & 2018 XSR900 |

yeah, I wish I hadn't bothered telling them now!
It just seems strange that something which can deter theft and lessens the chances of your bike being stolen, doesn't have any positive affect on your policy. ____________________

Maybe because they know it's an Oxford chain, thus easier to get through than a hot knife through butter ____________________ Ted : "Maybe he's agoraphobic."

To be fair they are cutting the Oxford Monster which is less expensive and has smaller links than their series 3. So they are comparing smaller chains that can be cropped to their larger chain which is too large to crop.
The Oxford Nemesis has larger 16mm links (like the Almax 3) which I believe are too large to get between the jaws of a cropper.
If you need to cary a chain to lock up your bike when your out then a smaller chain is easier to take with you. If the bike is left in the open and chain to an immoveable object it will have a good chance at staying secure.
If you are locking it overnight then a large chain is what is required. ____________________ Current Rides: GSXR-750 WS, GSXR-1000 K5, KTM EXC 300 |

The Almax vids show large chains being cropped, the making of the chain is whee the strength truly lies not the thickness per say.
Afaik, Almax whilst still only a mins or 2 .. Take more grinding than the cheesy ones ____________________ Jogging on, destination living. |

That's really good, never heard of any company without admin charges for making changes.. very tempting! Although I do have a good price with my current insurance, so can't complain too much. |
eBike aren't the cheapest, but they often have money-off deals kicking around, and if you're planning to make any changes to your bike(s) over the next year, it's well worth factoring that into the total cost. Being able to do everything online without dealing with a phone monkey is also a bonus (for me, anyway). ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
