I've been riding since I was 17, so that's 21 years.
Started off on a Kawasaki KC100 and now have a Bandit, a Virago and an RXS100.

Started off on a Honda NSR125 when I was 21 last year. Looked at the 3 sports 125s and my mind was made up. If it wasn't one of these then I wasn't really interested otherwise. The NSR was the only one that really came up for sale within a reasonable price range. I wasn't up for buying new. Although after I spoke to someone else that bought a new NSR they lost out on £800 from selling it the year after. Where I had to spend £800 on the bike making repairs.
The NSR was a great bike to start on for me. I had been driving a car for a year before. So I done my CBT and bought the NSR next day. I had no bike experience before this. Didn't have any problems at all with learning on the bike. It was a whole lot of fun.
A year later I did the DAS after the winter had passed. 3 days training and 4th day test. Passed first time and took the GSXR400 for a test ride that same night. I had told the owner I wanted to meet up that night as I'd have passed my test by then (confident I was going to pass or what!) Luckily I did. Loved the bike immediately. The owner was very nice to give me a good long shot of the bike around town on my own. Instantly got the hang of the bike and bought it.
Now it's been 5 months since I passed my test and still on the 400. I'll probably keep it for another year due to having a lack of funds at the moment.
I'll probably move to a sports 600 next as I want to experience all the engine sizes rather than just jumping to a 1000cc bike. I'm really glad I got the 400 as I feel that I would have missed out on something great if I had just went to a 600 instead.
[EDIT]I feel left out not adding the pics, so here they are:[/EDIT] ____________________ Honda NSR125R -> Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a -> Kawasaki ZX636 B1H -> Honda CBR400RR NC29 -> Nothing

Became legal in 1991 on a CB100N, no training, just the off road part 1 and the on road part 2 tests.
Then went :-
CB250RS -> XJ900F -> GT550 -> GPZ750/1000RX -> AJS M16 -> R100RT (piccies in profile link)
Currently on a Royal Enfield 500, after a break of 3 years.
Only 1 accident, took a corner too fast on the XJ whilst showing off to find cowshit, diesel and mud nicely smeared across the road on the exit.
Plenty of "ohshiiiiittyoustupidbastaaaaaard" moments to begin with, hardly any now ____________________ Current: CB500 Previous: CB100N, CB250RS, XJ900F, GT550, GPZ750R/1000RX, AJS M16, R100RT, Enfield Bullet

My dad taught me to ride when I was 4. Spent my youth kicking round the South Downs on a wide variety of off road vehicles. When I was 16 I got a fizzy and the a DT50. Passed my test when I was 17 dad harassed me about doing my car test but I didn't take any notice until he promised to buy me the RD350lc that I was dying to get! That was my first proper bike. I have since owned
RG250mk3
TZR250
GSXR1100 H
XS250
ZXR400L
'99 R6
'01 R1 (track bike)
I currently own
GSXR600K2 (well technically this is my other halfs but he's ridden it 2 miles and I've put 5000 on it so I consider it mine!)
And my R1 which is definitely 100% mine! |

I started riding almost 2 years ago.. although I've only really spent about a year maximum of that on the road due to various problems involving insurance, money and then an accident..
I had never ridden a bike before, but done my CBT then my test...
First bought a Suzuki Bandit before I had passed my test, it was a shit heap and when I did pass my test the bike just fell apart,
https://www.cwimedia.co.uk/other/r6-yzf/images/bikepics/bandit.jpg
So I sold it after only riding it for 1 hour then a few months later I bought my gorgeeeeeeeous ZXR400
https://www.cwimedia.co.uk/other/misc/zxr400.jpg
This taught me loads, took me loads of places too.. went to Donnington and various other places, was on rideouts every day on some weeks! Learnt knee down, stoppies and more and generally enjoyed it..
Then it developed some running problems, and well, I wanted a new bike anyway so after only a few months ownership I sold her and bought this
https://www.cwimedia.co.uk/other/r6-yzf/images/bikepics/right.jpg
Initially loved it, learnt more and more and went to a few places...
then it happened
I lost interest
I "didn't want" to look at the Demon Tweeks catalogue for tarty bits.. I "couldn't be bothered" to go on rideouts and just used it for commuting... that was a month or so ago and I've only really commuted on it since
Cos I bought this
https://www.cwimedia.co.uk/other/misc/yambike.jpg
THIS is my pride and joy.. love it to bits.... R6 ... what R6?
R6 is now for sale, looking for a nice red/white/black or black/grey thundercat ... something for commuting, cheaper (want new wheels for the WR! ) and something more suited to what I now use the road bike for...

I feel so inferior compared to you lot.
Bought my first ever bike in July and am currently still on 'L' Plates.
Planned on waiting till spring of next year before sitting my test, but really don't think I can wait that long now! ____________________ I have an asshole tolerance level of -10

Got a tomos when I was 16, needed transport.
Got a soviet 125 when I was 17, learned basic spannering on that through fixing any breakdowns and general servicing (nae money so you fix it yourself)
Passed my test then got an RD350YPVS, too fast for me when I first got it, steep learning curve but I survived. CDI went and I couldn't afford a new one so I sold it and got.
Jawa 350, had two major crashes on this bike. A gearbox failure meant stripping it right down and building it up again one weekend, learned a lot about engines very quickly. Sucessfully built a new wiring loom for it this summer. It blew up and was off the road for many years until I could be bothered resurrecting it which was another down to the crank strip.
In the meantime I got a GPZ500s. Put 35k miles on it, all maintainance done by myself. Lots of touring in the highlands built up my road skills. Have done a top-end rebuild on this bike (after I gave it to my mate)
Fiddled with a selection of small honda 4-strokes, bought as non-runners, stripped and rebuilt. More to learn more about the guts of an engine than anything.
Now on an MZ supermoto and REALLY learning how to throw a bike about .
In the process of restoring a 30 year old suzuki T500.
EDIT: I should add that I have 10 years NCB on my insurance and three points on my licence for speeding on a motorway. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles.

I'm just a baby biker
I bought my NSR in May this year after doing my CBT in April so I'm on L's too! I've always had a passive interest in bikes and have a couple of friends who are bikers, but I didn't want a bike myself until I had a go as pillion and loved it!!!
It's just a hobby for now, but I do intend on doing my DAS and getting either an SV650 or a GPZ500....if I can afford it.
I'd say I'm a better pillion than I am rider, after a crippling 1100 miles round Normandy last month on Col's Ninja. However, I recently did the Stoke Pet Food Run on my NSR, and managed not to crash into anyone and not stall too many times!! I absolutely loved that. However I have a fear of going out on my bike alone...I feel safer in numbers. |

Left school may271983, started riding a suzuki FZ50 in July1983, bought my Suzuki GP100 in 1984, past both tests about april1984.
(Soon after cutting up my number plates I assisted at the motorcycle training centre for a few years)
1985, traded in my GP100 for a Suzuki FS125, since then I've owned 2 GPZ305's, 2 CB250RS's, GT550, Suzuki SB200, Kawasaki Z250, Honda Rebel 250, 6 CD250UJ's.
AT PRESENT I own a CD250UJ with full rickman fairing and two CB250's, one is a T reg and the other a 52.
BTW, I've been on the Courier curcuit for over 15 years. |

Wotcha.
Right.
Are we sitting comfortably ?
Then I’ll begin.
<< Rewind to around 1967 >>
The first real thing with an engine was a Raleigh Runabout, which I got for the grand sum of three quid. This was quite expensive at the time, seeing as I was nine years old and the ol’ man said “ I’ll help you work on it, but I won’t buy it for you “. This at least taught me about simple two strokes, and the delights of flywheel magnetos. A Philips Panda soon followed. This was another 50cc contraption, but it had a little three inch clutch fitted, so that taught me how to at least pull away on a bike, even if it didn’t have gears. The next trick was to remove the engine from the Panda, and fit it into a bicycle frame. Much fun was had with one inch lug iron and a hand operated drill. Man may have just walked on the moon, but I didn’t care . . . I’d just fitted an engine to a pushbike.
As luck would have it, the metalwork teacher at secondary school happened to be into motorcycles – which saved me a load of grief when it came to drilling holes and making various brackets. It also taught me a damn sight more about building and maintaining bikes. On the down side, it also taught me that turning up for school, riding a 250 B.S.A. across the playing field was a definite no-no.
Various field bikes followed, from 150cc Villiers engined things, to a bubble car with the body removed ( my first trike ? ).
Time to get a bike on the road, and it was a B.S.A. Bantam that steered me in that direction. This was more like it – 175cc, four speed box, real live lights – all this for £ 25 . . . and £ 41 for the insurance. That poor Bantam led a life of abuse. I decided to fit a sidecar to it, a Watsonian Bambini, which was designed as a scooter chair. Great fun, if a little slow, and it taught me how to handle an outfit. Next, the chair came off, and I tatted around with fuel injection and two stroke tuning. The only real lesson learned from this was ‘ if you miss a gear, the con-rod comes through the front of the crankcase ‘. Was I glad that a friend of mine worked at Alpha bearings, and could get me con-rod assemblies at the right price.
Now I’d just read in one of the motorcycle magazines that the price of the driving test was to be increased to just over three quid.
“Three quid for the test ? I ain’t paying that “ so I promptly sent my two pounds loose change off and booked the test……..which I passed.
Time for something a tad larger – another B.S.A. This time it was an A10 Super Rocket 650 twin. I covered 47 000 miles in the first year or so of owning this bike and it did let me down a few times, but once again, it taught me how to work on four stroke engines. The Super Rocket ended up being sold for £ 55 – I was out of work at the time, and needed the money.
Hmm – another B.S.A. followed, the 500cc version of the A 10 - the A 7. This was the Shooting Star model, which served me well until the crown of the left hand piston decided to part company with its skirt ( ooer Missus ). It did have 110 000 miles on the clock, so I suppose I shouldn’t complain. Now it just so happened that I had a 600cc side valve engine to hand – so that went into the A 7 frame, along with a car alternator to improve the 6 volt lights. That bike ran in that form until about 1991 when the con-rod snapped at the small end eye. This time there was 194 000 miles on the clock – not bad for an engine that cost me £70 to start with.
Around this time ( early 1980s ) I built my first trike. 1200 VW engine, which later got changed for a 1600 motor.
Between times, I also ran a 750cc Triumph Bonneville, which although I covered seventy odd thousand miles on, I never really took to.
A pair of Gold Wings, 1000cc and 1100cc – nice bikes, but I found ‘em boring and lacking in character.
A Cossack outfit – which I fitted a B.M.W engine into – then triked the thing.
My original trike ended up being sold to a friend in the club, and I ‘played around’ on a Stimson Scorcher for twelve months. I just couldn’t take to a trike with two wheels at the front, and I’ve never been a great fan of Mini engines anyway. So the Stimson had to go.
I then threw together another trike, with the intention of selling it. I never did sell the thing, and I still use that trike now. . . it’s the infamous ‘Tiger Coloured Trike’.
A brand new Indian Enfield Bullet was my next purchase. Bought in 1991. I still use that bike – well, would be using it but I’m changing the main bearings at the moment, and getting the frame powder coated. That’s the trouble – if you use ‘em, they start to rust and wear out.
A Kawasaki 800cc Drifter caught my eye – and that’s another bike I still have. I must confess to not using it as much as I should – the trike tends to be more useful.
Now about two years ago, one of the lads in the club told me about a shop over Leicester way that was selling Moto Guzzi Nuovo Falcones for about two grand. Now I have soft spot for big single cylinder bikes, so, like a fool, I went out and bought one . . . . and that’s the bike I tend to do most of my running around on these days.
Ebay provided me with my last acquisition – a Ford two litre trike, which is slowly evolving to suit my tastes.
And that, boys and girls, is the story up to date, although it’s a much cut down version. I never mentioned the A.J.S. that my dog was named after, or the B.S.A. C10L that just ran and ran, despite being physically worn out. . . . but that’s another story.
<< Thank god the old git’s finally shut up >> ____________________ Cheers.

Started riding in 97 on a cg125, which I crashed lots.
Then got a ns125r, crashed that, which killed it pretty much.
Got a KLR650, rode that for a bit.
Up to this point I hadn't really known many other people that rode, so had never got into it that much, though my parents had always been into bikes, including riding them accross various deserts in Africa.
Moved to Reading, got a nsr125f and used that for commuting through the middle of Reading everyday; first time I seriously started to filter.
Passed my test and got the KLR650 back off my mum, who had used it for a bit, including riding around norway!
Got a quite shiny 2001 zx6 after that, managed to keep that uncrashed for 6 months, then crashed it twice within two weeks doing stunts.
A year after the getting the zx6 I'd really got the lust for power and got a ex-race tuned zx9. Sold the zx6 to ste. To some degree got the zx9 road 'legal'. Sold the KLR around then, the engine had seized on the m4 a while before.
Got stopped for doing 119mph while undertaking on the m4 a few months later on the zx9, rode the bike until tax ran out.
I then got a rd350 to get around.
By this point I'd done a few track days and was quite getting into them, unfortunately the zx9 had gearbox problems so I couldn't use it on track any more. Had gone off road riding a bit because it didn't really compare to the track and I was rather worried about my licence.
Bought a KR1S off Kev for the track, but this had a slipping clutch and a knackered shock. The sump bolt had also been overtightened in the past and it dumped it's guts in a pit garage at brands after the first session.
Passed my car test feburary this year; mostly so I could get bikes to the track.
Early this year I got a a dr600 and a rs250 from the same bloke; got the dr to replace the rs and the rs because it was cheap (£900) with slight cosmetic damage; thought I could sort it out and sell it for more later. Realised I actually quite enjoyed riding it on the road.
The DR turned out to have had it's top end rebuilt with instant gasket; so leaked oil out of the sides; led to a very loose camchain.
Also got a track r6, with all road bits, with the intention of starting racing with BMCRC in rookie 600s. Did the ESS BMCRC/ACU licence day.
Was in a car accident at the beggining of april while going to Cadwell. My r6 and the rs250, which I was lending to dusty, was on the trailer. Both were written off.
Got rid of the KR1; was on ebay before the accident.
A bit later I got another rs250, but decided my skill didn't quite compensate for it's lack of power on track (not enough people with bikes of similar power to 'play' with; was getting annoyed in inters getting held up on the corners and passed on the straights; knew I's just get passed in fast.)
Got another track r6, this time with some tarty suspension.
Recently I got another dr600, this time almost converted to a supermoto. My other one had a random electical problem stopping it sparking, wasn't sure what and to get the spares to find out what would have cost me a significant proportion of getting this new one.
New one seems to have killed a valve shortly after (engine work done by a bike shop before I got it ). When I get it working I'm going to finish it off with a decent front brake setup and may play with some mild tuning.
I have sold some bits off the damaged rs250 and r6. I still have zx9, r6 track bike, rs250 and 2xdr600.
Currently the rs needs MOT as does the zx9 (just need time to sort them), the r6 should be working again by saturday after Tuesday and the DR's need to be amalgamted to make one working one.
During that time I also got a minimoto with Dusty, but haven't had the time or money to sort it since it probably needs a new barrel and piston. |

I bought my NSR125F in feb this year, I randomly said to someone on MSN that I wanted a bike again and he knew someone who had one for sale. A few weeks later it arrived on a trailer, and I had a bike |

Hi
Got my first bike in March 1987, a little Honda H100S. Basically because I couldn't afford the insurance on a car in NI. Moved back over to the mainland and got hit by a car in January 1988. Bought a CB100N which was no fun. Bought an MBX125 that was great fun. Moved up to the Midlands and landed up doing a hell of a lot of miles on the MBX.
Passed my test on January 4th 1989, on a hired H100S2, as my MBX had decided to blow up 4 days earlier. Bought a CB400NC, which was a nice enough cruising bike but a bit boring. Cam chain went the way of Honda cam chains so I started riding the MBX again and enjoyed it. Sold the CB400 and the MBX and bought an Aprilia AF1.
18 months later I bought an FZ750, but kept the AF1. 9 Months later I bought an AF1 Futura. "Sold" the AF1 to a friend about 6 months later on the basis that he would pay me when he could afford to.
Come 1993 I traded the AF1 Futura in for an RS125, then got made redundant from Rolls Royce, and the FZ needed some work. Landed up working near Dudley and commuting a hell of a long way by car (160 miles a day). Bikes didn't get much use until I moved to Stafford.
In 1996 spent 3 months in Aus and bought a GPX750 for getting round on. Came back and bought a 1200 Bandit in Feb 1997. Landed up working in Belgium for 15 months so the Bandit didn't get that much use then (nowhere to keep it in Belgium, plus insurance would have been difficult). I had the Bandit there for about 2 months.
Came back to the UK and started cranking up the miles on the Bandit. Always fancied a Bimota and saw one go through an auction cheaply and realised I could afford one. Some time later I bought the Dieci.
Come 2003 I decided to tune the Bandit engine (had thought about it occasionally for years) so bought a Divvy for commuting. Got bored of it, so have just bought an FZR600 to replace it.
This excludes various 125s bought for occasional fun.
All the best

I've only been riding two years now. Started off on a Yamaha SR125 which was fun (infact, I actually miss riding that bike). Got a Suzuki GS500 just before the summer (one hell of a shite bike) managed to blow the engine after a few months Now riding a Hornet 600 and recently bought a PitBike to go 'wild' on. |

Passed my CBT last sept, bought my rs125 in october, and at the moment I am currently doing my DAS. So 12 months really, but I used to ride my mates bike across the canal tracks and wasteland by me some years back. ____________________ Bikes owned: Aprilia RS 125 GP1 2003 (Now sold), Suzuki GSX-r600 1997 (streetfightered), https://www.bikepics.com/members/sychosis/

Briefly;
I started riding about 11 years ago, bought a bike after doing the CBT and wrote it off about 3 months later. It was a nice little de-restricted Aprilia AF1 Europa on a K plate. (Honest I didn't know officer)
After that came three more Aprilia's, that I blew up, had nicked and kept for four years, in that order.
Then the first japanese bike, a Yam R6, followed by my first 954 Blade that someone wrote off for me and now I'm on another 02 954. A yellow one because they are the fastest.
I may consider buying a CBR1000 next spring or I may not, I reserve the right to change my mind at anytime.
I don't drive and have always ridden year round unless I can scrounge a lift in shitty weather. |
