Broke down in the rain a month ago, bike not started since...
Then this weekend..
Ok so I sanded parts of the frame where the coils meet it, the spacers in between and the bike fires up fine now. It has new HT leads and is getting a spark on all cylinders.
It idles fine, on choke it sits around 3-3.5k, off choke 1200-1300ish.
When you ride it under load it bogs a little at about 5-6k and you can notice it a little. I thought it may be bad fuel as it stood for 2 years but spotless tank and tank of super ran through now back on standard 95. I did take the carbs off, clean them completely but feel it may still be carb related. Couldn't find any air leaks with WD40 around all carb rubbers, airbox rubbers.
Has all pipes on carb plugged in correctly.
If I was to remove the tank and try to turn the bike over whilst filling the petrol hose with carb cleaner (please recommend something...anything) would this pass carb cleaner through all areas? I have redlined 1st and 2nd to try and force shit through...but unsure if thats the correct procedure All ideas are welcome!!!! (also...there is a leak between the 4>1 and the link pipe for end can.. could this be the issue?
Also waterproofing, it broke down due to getting wet somewhere.
I have put a small layer of vaseline around the plug covers (they have holes in them by design for some reason!?) and have put some around where the HT leads join to the coils, also the wires that plug into the coils AND the coils mounts to the frame. What else can I do aside from fit a fairing There is a monumentously large gap between the tank and the frame where I think most water goes into... https://www.motorcyclesupermarket.com/images/bikes/images/10671.1335344523.IMG_1083.jpg
my gap looks quite larger than that...but you can't lower it Thought about adding some rubber sleeves over the coils, but fearful of overheating.
Any help on the above subjects will result in a karma intercourse session. |

Suppose I could just get redex and a funnel, whack on the petrol hose and crank it over just sucking redex in for 10 seconds or so |

The OEM plug caps are not particularly good quality.Take the caps off and check that the internal resistors and springs are clean and that there is no corrosion. The resistors should read 5-10k ohms and can break down when hot and go to infintiy....and in the words of Buzz Liteyear 'and beyond!'
The vent holes in the rubbers are to vent the condensation. ____________________ Just talk bikes. What else is there?
