3 blokes did it from New York to California a few years ago. I think they were on 999's or maybe 998's. They were quite a bit slower that the quick cars cos they just couldent sustain the speed.

Be a good laugh. I did 1200 miles in 3 days and 1450 in 5 days. 3000 miles would be pushing it.

I was watching the Gumball the other night it's just silly Smile Loads of people in expensive cars throwing them at the scenery, funny as you like.It does make you wonder what a load of bikes doing the same sort of trip would be like Shocked

I was at the start of this year's European Cannonball and asked exactly that question - where's the bikes? - The organisers wanted some bikes to enter but simply didn't receive any mad enough bikers applying...

I would looooove to do one - especially across the continent like the last...

Here - have a wee video of a Cerbera launching... (3mb quicktime .mov - right click save as etc)

smokin'!

Not actually having a driving license or really being that interested in cars, I still have to say that the Gumball wouldn't have the same appeal on bikes.

For me the spectacle is seeing a bunch of rich twats wrecking a good few million pounds worth of supercars. A bloke on an £6k - £9k superbike doesn't quite have the same charisma.

I'm not saying that it doesn't have it's place though, something similar for bikes would be a great fun experience but it would have to be a separate event for me.

Have you seen the prices to take part anyway? Shocked and you'd need to be some sort of royal inbreed to stand any chance of getting accepted to go. Wink

Royal inbreed is right. It costs £10,000 to enter, plus £5000 if you want to bring along more than one passenger. Add to that the fact they only have limited spaces so you've got to have an insanely expensive car to even be accepted, and voila. Neutral

I always thought it looked great fun but to do it on a bike would just be mad. Doubt I'll ever be in the position to make that decision though...

The Euro Cannonball was somewhat 'cheaper' at something like £2k to enter - I wasn't party to the actual pricing though...But expect costs to triple that - £2k for fuel and £2k for speeding fines...
