My mate has used these guys several times before:

https://www.worcesterpowdercoating.co.uk/

I asked them for a quote when I had my Hornet but I can't remember what for - it seemed reasonable but I didn't get round to it in the end.

Sorry thats not very specific, but they're not bad Thumbs Up

https://www.redditchshotblasting.co.uk

These guys will be getting my KMX200 frame and parts within the next month to powdercoat for me. I've not used them before, but 2people at work have, and one of them does classic scooter restorations. They don't exclusively do motorcycle parts like some coaters, but they do alot of bike work, and i've heard good things about them many times.

There is also a place in Digbeth in Birmingham that does powercoating, and tends to specialise in car alloy wheels. I've heard mixed things about them, but if they are close to you, i can find out the name and details if you like?

I am guessing these are the guys you are talking about in digbeth https://www.citypowdercoating.co.uk, haven't heard anything about them...

Vincent, let me know how it goes please.

Yep they are the guy's i was thinking of. They do all kinds of items for powercoating as far as i know. The people i have heard have good and bad experiences with them were all on a car forum, and had their alloy wheels re-finished there.

I have to admitt that the last comment made was good, and the wheels the guy picked up did look very nice when they were done. I think the main problem with many powdercoater's is a lack of communication, and sometime misunderstanding if more than one colour is being requested on different parts. That and not losing small individual parts when coating.

Don't be in a rush to get the parts back, as most firms will work to their own timescales, and meeting deadlines is not often heard of. There are reasons for this however, and it is not economic for example to run the curing ovens unless they are nearly full.

I asked them about an alternator cover (much smaller than a car wheel) to be coated in stain black (easy colour as well) and they quoted £20... Its like 6" ... cant be twice the price of a 16" wheel ><

Hi

Used Redditch shot blasting quite a few times and would use them again.

All the best

Hey Vincent, how does it look then?
Everything OK? I emailed the guy and he said £20, drop it in anytime and pick-up next day.

Sound like the good-old-fashioned chop-shop tbh. None of that bureaucratic crap, book appointment wait half a year etc. If he does a good job I am sold Wink

Used City-Powder-Coat, Digbeth for Snowie's Wheels on the Pup, and everything on the DT.

They're car-wheel-people, and been trying to get 'in' to bike bits, I think, and struggling.

Quality & consistancy is pretty good; certainly for the money.

DT's frame has awkward top-tube that the shock lives in, and I would have liked to have seen coating 'inside' that section, but they didn't manage it... rest was good though.

Chucked some real nigglies at them; some rather rusty old chrome... couple of headlamp shells and a pair of luggage racks, and they did a batch of Super-Dream bars.

They didn't 'want' to take the chrome parts, because difficulty in blasting, and getting good key for coat, and risk of chrome flaking.

Told them to do them at 'my' risk anyway - and they ent show quality, but, more than presentable'.

For quality of work, and prices they charge, Yeah, they definitely deserve a 'Not-Bad'.... bordering on 'Pretty Good' rating.

Customer service leaves something to be desired, though!

So keen to 'please' every batch I have taken to them, they have told me will be done in two or three days..... never do, and results in having to 'chase' them, which pigs me off!

Its a bike, in bits, its NOT going to be going anywhere in a hurry! Have to completely rebuild it after they've done.... don't REALLY matter if they take a week or month... I just need to know when to come collect and NOT be on the phone to them every-day, to hear their excuses why they didn't do it as fast as they hoped!

Put up with that; take thier estimated return time with a pinch of salt, and Yeah, I'd reccomend them!

They did the DT and all its bits and brackets in ten days, which is not bad; Snowie's wheels and a batch of other 'bits' in a week', both times in different co lours.... so not even poor lead time..... just thier over optimistic estimates of it!

Thanks for the info guys and the photos Vincent.
It doesn't look bad, especially with it being a spring and all. I would imagine they are quite dodgy.

I won't comment on your choice of colour though Razz

Will pop by sometime next week

I had some done by these guys: https://www.bournespowdercoating.co.uk/ recently.

Very pleased with the quality and turnaround time, charged £65 for media blasting and coating an alloy swing arm, concentric adjuster faces, rear brake torque arm and a rear brake caliper hanger in "non-shiny black"

probably not the cheapest around but they did clean all the bits up for me first and remove all the swing arm bearings at the shop (didn't have a bearing puller handy)
