Then again ... perhaps it is I who am sad for photographing them and posting them on BCF.

It never ceases to amaze me that Anita saw those sweary word magnets and thought "Mum!" ... she knows me so well Laughing

Mine's lagged in school letters and pictures Smile

We've got some magnets we've picked up at places and photo ones but most of them are just sturdy anchors for a snowstorm of paper and 'things to do' Rolling Eyes

The only things of mine left on there are my shopping list and two postcards. One says "Too Weird Too Have A Husband" (bought for me by a mate years ago, thanks then Laughing ) and the other says "The rule is if it's got tyres or bollocks you're going to have trouble with it". I bought that one Mr. Green

EDIT: Pic clicky

the bottom half is mainly for 'art' clicky

My fridge in the last house had such a lot more on it, pictures and postcards, as well as magnets. I had to restart this fridge collection 'cos all the other stuff got chucked out by Fulham Council (wankers).

The sweary magnets are awesome cos they come with a full set of letters so you can write your own things as well.

I like to make phrases. Somewhere in there it says "Shut your fucking face, uncle fucker" - unoriginal I know, but it was the first thing I thought of when I first got them, and it has stood the test of time, as it is still there (somewhere) ... as well as "Doris McSquirter", which is [just one of] my bloke's many nicknames for me - but his eyesight is too bad to read them, so my humour was wasted on him Rolling Eyes I'd have to have letters 6" high in red saying "Baps" and he might notice it, but he rarely comes into the kitchen (unreconstructed alpha male).

I remember being very angry on the phone to my ex one day and rearranging the words and letters to say "Fucking ginger beardy tosspot toilet rim-block licker" (round the other side of the fridge) - but I quickly scrappled them all around when I heard the sound of his bike outside, several weeks later Laughing

Anita mostly only uses the words, and rearranges them depending on the strength of her vitriol. Although she has put small declarations of filial devotion on there from time to time ... so that's alright Mr. Green

Its obviously a guy thing ... I barely know who Norris McWhirter is (was) anyway Rolling Eyes it was long before I came to the UK - although I did like the Guinness Book of Records when I was a kid, and I like the Derek and Clive sketch about trying to get the longest bogey into the records book, was kind of amusing.

Awwww yeah, mine used to look like that Laughing
Takes ages to build up a nice history of mad stuff.

On the other side (where the ginger-abuse was) I have empty little red, white and black magnetic photoframes, but I cant be arsed to find pictures I want and shrink them to 3" square to fit in the damn frames and then print them all at once on one sheet of paper.

They're so cool! I shall wait till the fridge is no longer a 'look at me to learn stuff' area for clock things, spellings, star charts etc tho. Embarassed Laughing

I like the idea of being civil to someone on the phone whilst furiously rearranging letters to express yourself properly Mr. Green

Some random words that are meant to be arranged as a shopping list (inexplicably provided by Cable & Wireless) and a Golliwog

https://img442.imageshack.us/img442/3817/dscf0948y.jpg

Not sure what that says about me, other than I can't be arsed with lists and I don't mind the odd bit of jam.

Nice Golly!
Do they still do those, or are they too out-of-favour these days?

They must be around somewhere, this one only appeared in the last 3 or 4 years.

As for out of favour, that's why it's there; my family doesn't really do PC, so to us a Golly means the symbol of Robertson's jam and the doll that every kid our age had, nothing more or less.

What do my fridge magnets say about me? I honestly have no idea. My girlfriend is trying to teach me German at the moment so we have lots of German words on our fridge. I know what about 3 of them mean.

Yep, definitely a woman's domain or "I have kids that visit once a week and still have the same magnets that were there before she did one" possibly.

It says she knows you spend too much time at the fridge and not enough time learning German.

There could be a subtle, but important, message somewhere; have you been putting on a little weight lately?

You should learn to put words together that say
"Instruction to the woman: put food in the fridge for me to eat, so that I can learn German more efficiently!"

Ha ha no! If anything I've trimmed up a bit, probably why I don't know any German as I'm not in the fridge enough!

My girlfriend is German and none of her family speak english apart from her brother but he's only learning. We're heading back over to Berlin in September so it'd be nice to be able to converse just a little bit. Maybe I should be eating more? Laughing

I can get by ok with basic german, got my please and thank yous down and I know how to ask for beer so I'm mostly covered.

From what she's told me the fridge magnets she bought aren't typical "teach yourself German" magnets and they're a bit rude but from what I can gather they're rude in the same way that damp, flange and moist are rude words. I can barely ask for a beer and she's already expecting me to pick up on the complexities of subtle language jokes? Typical German efficiency I suppose Laughing

I prefer my balls on the outside of my body and not kicked into oblivion thanks very much Laughing
