hi folks - i am new as you may have guessed - i have been told that you guys are the best to speak to about my project.

i am building a Drag race Go-Kart with a nitrous & turbo bike engine!
the chassis is a 250cc modified national which has been strengthened for an R1 engine - i then sold the engine (like a nob) and i need a new one!
i have got a cold fusion nitrous system with 35 to 200bhp increase and an IHI turbo from a cav TD
i need an engine suitable for the kart and am looking for massive power and torque

can anyone help out?

Mr C will probably reply in a bit, as he's the best person to ask I'd imagine..

Your not thinking of /actually/ driving this kart are you, it's just for show.. isn't it? Shocked Laughing

nope its going to be my toy - i have seen a fireblade kart do a 9 second pass at 1/4 mile so i want to try to beat it, it was a very trick engine though so i think turbo for power nitrous off the mark as anti lag

Most of the big suzi engines cope well with this sort of thing, Hyabusas are popular at the mo, used to be gsxr11s or gsx11 engines.

If you are going to use a turbo of a td engine check to see if it has shaft seals in the turbo body. If it doesnt (and most diesel turbos dont) you will end up sucking oil into the engine before the turbo is making positive pressure. The engine oil will effectively reduce the octane rating of your fuel, combining this with high temperature air from the compressor you are almost certain to get detonation, which will destroy your engine V rapidly indeed.

If you sort out the shaft seals (or get a different turbo) use an intercooler between turbo and block, it will give significant power gains while reducing the detonation risk, if you want really high boost levels you need to inject the nitrous as a liquid to help cool the charge.

If you are going to do the experimenting yourself, expect to destroy a couple of engines and do several top end rebuilds before its right. Otherwise take the engine to a known drag engine builder and ask him to do the setup.

i also have a turbo from a metro turbo (T3 garrett) but i thought this may be too big the nitrous is injected as liquid form anyway at the throttle butterflys (carbs) i would use intercooler - have about 5 sitting here
i was only planning on running about 7psi so would i need trick internals for this?
