Rolling Eyes

Do they actually think people are so stupid that they don't realise what can happen and thus need to be shown it in cartoon form?

I am in two minds as to whether to email them and ask if they consider bikers to be of such a low/juvenile intellect that they need to educate us with nothing better than year 4 equvalent cartoons? And if they don't, why then are they being so condescending?

I would also like to ask where their cartoons for drivers using mobiles are?

MCN Made a big thing about the double meaning of the word 'Bummer'.

They imply that there is some sort of homophobic element to this campaign.

It is supposed to stand for "Below Maximum Mph Every Ride"

But who refers to their speed as MPH like that? Also they say the guy's who have crashed in the carstoons are "Bummers". In which case we are either being labelled as gay leather bikers, or that keeping Below Maximum Mph Every Ride in fact causes us to crash, and indeed we should speed to avoid such comical mishaps!

Rolling Eyes Fackwits.

Given the obscure way it refers the the subject, I have no doubt that the chosen acronym was intended to cause offence. In the light of this I would suggest that they change their name to Warwickshire Area Nazis Know Effective Road Safety. Very Happy

I have sent them a nasty, condesendingly piss taking e-mail Very Happy wonder if I get a reply? LOL

Quote:
Your having a laugh.. no seriously... what is your aim exactly? Do you mean deliberately to be so condescending and are you REALLY trying to spark so much trouble in the biking vs anti-bike media community?!

Bummer "be under maximum mph ever ride" as you label it, is utter rubbish.. your telling people to ride around just under the maximum mph.. Which means your poorly considered anti-bike juvenile cartoons are telling me to ride my Yamaha R6 around at 160mph every ride.. (just under max mph!)

At least you got lots of exposure, magazines, newspapers, every web site forum I frequent has pages of angry bikers complaining at the unnecessarily pointless cartoons of yours which achieve NOTHING except for causing trouble.

Your campaign has achieved nothing but an annoyed biking community and plenty of wasted money in the process! I hope your happy.

Maybe a better name for your campaign would be “Will Always Notice Kars Every Rideout” – work it out for yourselves…

Your sincerely

Craig the bummer! (I’m not gay by the way! But apparently a bummer)

This message was deliberately sarcastic and yes I did mean to talk down to you… reminds me of your cartoons…… no?

Thank you for your email regarding the above. We appreciate you taking the
time to comment.

Warwickshire, in common with many other parts of the country, has witnessed
a worrying rise in the number of motorcycle fatalities. The `What a
Bummer' campaign is one of a number of initiatives being run locally to
address this growing problem. These have included educational activities
designed to raise awareness amongst other road users of the needs of
motorcyclists.

The `What a Bummer' campaign uses a series of humorous cartoons to
encourage riders to consider just how easily things can go wrong. It was
deliberately designed to communicate a serious road safety message in a
light hearted manner.

The Bummer campaign was launched in July and has been warmly received.
Bummer has the support of the Warwickshire Powered Two Wheeler Fourm who
were consulted over the design. The campaign was launched at Stratford on
Avon Motorcycle Park during the annual Bulldog Bash where it was well
received and copies of the postcards have been requested by local dealers
for distribution to their customers.

You may not have actually seen the collection of postcards and the
explanation behind it - if you would like to receive a copy please let me
know.

I have replied to her with some more babble and also asking a copy of the post cards + explanation behind it.

I accidentally sent the e-mail before I had finished Doh! Laughing so I hope it doesn't sound too rude as I didn't say regards or anything.. it also means I wasn't able to copy and paste it Doh! when they reply it should be quoted so I will add it from that Thumbs Up

I was also there and saw nothing. Pity really, 'cos I love the idea of pencil necked council types turning up at a HAMC event and suggesting to the attendees that they are all 'bummers'. 'But Sir, you misundersta....oof'. Laughing

The sad thing is that this campaign would have had a panel to devise it and it would have cost taxpayers money to do it.Surely at some stage somebody must have noticed what a stupid, patronising and utter waste of time/money it is.D'oh
