How can I check a bikes history before buying it?

This may seem like an obvious answer "use bike checker" etc. but i dont want to pay £20 to check a bike that I might not even buy, seems ridiculously like a rip off, how do I check it for free if i havnt got access to the log book yet? thank you, Bizla.

You can't...............

You can do basic vehicle checks with the DVLA but that won't tell you much other than if it's taxed, the vehicle colour, year of manufacture, engine size e.t.c

These checks won't tell you if it's been stolen, an insurance write off or if it has outstanding finance against it.

Best bet is to only do one of the "pay for" checks if you're sure that you are going to buy the bike, then it's not a wasted £15.

You can check every MOT back to when it was first computerised, but if you have all the MOTs then it's not going to tell you anything new. But honestly if you're going to shell out a few grand on a bike then £20 is nothing compared to what you stand to lose.

theres one where you can text the reg and they reply with the checks for about £3 added to your bill

yes text check doesn't do finance, does everything else thou, so good if its an old vehicle or long term owner
