Anyone on here had a like page and renamed it to something else completely un-related to the original page?

i.e. You have a page called "BCF Motorcycles" which is a dealership in Manchester.

You then close down the dealership and open a retail business selling computer parts.

You want to rename "BCF Motorcycles" to "Express PC Parts".

Quote:
Page Management
A. Page Names and Facebook Web Addresses
Page names and Facebook Web Addresses must accurately reflect Page content. We may remove administrative rights or require you to change the Page name and Facebook Web Address for any Page that fails to meet this requirement.
Page names must:
i. not consist solely of generic terms (e.g., “beer” or “pizza”);
ii. use proper, grammatically correct capitalization and may not include all capitals, except for acronyms;
iii. not include character symbols, such as excessive punctuation and trademark designations; and
iv. not include superfluous descriptions or unnecessary qualifiers.
B. Name Changes and Migrations
We will only process name changes and migrations that do not result in a misleading or unintended connection. For example, we will allow local to global migrations, such as “Facebook France” to “Facebook”, but will not allow global to local migrations, or location to location migrations, such as “Facebook France” to “Facebook Russia”. Additionally, you may not request a name change or migration that would result in re-categorizing a product Page to a brand Page, a generic or opinion Page to a brand Page, or a Group to a Page. All migrations are at our discretion and are final.

I know that's what the t&c's state but as you know, you can get away with certain things on Facebook. Like you aren't even supposed to have a profile account for a business in the first place yet everyone does anyway.

Just wondering if anyone has actually done it?

I setup a proper 'Like' page in relation to a project yesterday and it did state that once a 'username' was chosen, that was it.

I just checked mine and these steps allow it:

Once on 'like' page admin panel (standard landing page, no?)just off centre to the right find 'edit page' tab.

Clicking the tab, hover down one option to 'update info'.
There you'll find the boxes to edit text and category options to change.

I know you're a clever chap but if you struggle give us a shout and il send you screen-shots. Thumbs Up

As I was eating curry and he appeared on the TV.

It got 970 Likes lol.. I only made it as a joke, if you find out how to change it let me know, I'm thinking 'Johnny Robinson X-Factor Gimp'

I manage several like pages with thousands of likes on them individually, the issue isn't how to rename the pages, it's doing something that doesn't say you're allowed to do according to Facebook.

Look at their terms and conditions for pages...

Code:
Page names and Facebook Web Addresses must accurately reflect Page content. We may remove administrative rights or require you to change the Page name and Facebook Web Address for any Page that fails to meet this requirement.

I could change all the graphics and photos to the new content and even change the username ( you are allowed to change it once ) but Facebook "may remove administrative rights". I don't want to lose 6,000 likes for nothing.

Once changed though, you can merge similar like pages together and the one with the least amount of likes merges in to the larger one.

I don't want to draw attention to this group by requesting a name change to Facebook, which requires a person to check it, them see what I'm trying to do and possibly remove my admin access or even delete it.

Just wanted to see if anyone had done it and it work out ok.

... but you can't (or at least you shouldn't be able to) transfer the Likes from a certain type of business to another.

No matter how many you have.
You have to start again.

Cos the people who liked the motorcycles thing might not like PC parts.

What if I opened one for, say, a cake shop and then after the cake shop bombed, I tried to change the page to a knocking shop. The cake shop likers wouldn't enjoy that, would they. Well, not all of them ... Shifty

I remember some friends started a craze called "faceholing" where they'd find groups/likes with no admin and change the name of the group, so for instance a group called "If 10,000 members join I grow my beard for a year" or something equally innocent, to "Dale Winton touched me as a child!" or "I'd give anything to Jizz on Anne Widdecombes tits".

Much lollage was had by all.

It's nothing sinister but I see what you're saying Hellkat but I've done it anyway. If I get bollocked off Facebook for it... so be it.
