thinking about taking out the 33bhp restrictors out of my bike. i gather they are washers in the carbs and just wondering if they are like washers could i sort of make the hole in them larger. would this actually work because it would look like they were in the there but allow me more ponies Cool

It's illegal. As such, it's entirely up to you.

Its up to you, you know the risks.

If you feel youve enough experiance, thats what the 33hp restriction is for remember.

Resizing them is just as illegal. It's either 33bhp or it's not.

Many people on this forum have taken the restrictors out. And its up to you if you want to do it.

Just bare in mind if you do take them out your basically riding without a licence which means your insurance is void.
But you'll be very unlucky to get caught and I have never heard of anyone getting done for doing this.

Though I stayed legal for the full 2 years, but thats just me as many people feel they have enough experience to remove them.

"Old git mode"
Leave them alone and ride with no worry.

"Young git mode"
Tweak them/remove them and have a ball think about the consequences later if it happens.

surely if i resize them in a way which doesn't look tampered then it'd be ok. would insurance companies actually take and out and inspect?? my mate crashed his zx4 and they didn't check (he did have them in)

Dont bother pissing about boreing out the washers or whatever, just get em out, best thing i ever did to mine, and the only way they can really twig it is if ure caught doing 120mph plus or something.

If they do bother to check for them then they're going to be quite aware of what they're looking for. I would expect you could get away with making the hole fractionaly bigger and it not being noticable but it's more effort then it's worth. Either take them out or leave them in, playing around making the hole in the washer very fractionaly bigger really isn't worth it.

It's illegal so it's something you need to decide yourself rather than let some random person on here tell you to do so. If you did get caught you'd get done for no insurance and no license but it's very unlikely, never heard of anyone being caught by police or their insurance finding out but there still is that small chance of it happening.

Nick, don't count on it, know someone who got stopped on their blade at speeds above that their 33bhp bit of paper said (105mph) and they didn't pick up on it. A bike bop who stopped me out of randomness thought that a 600cc was the largest I was allowed to be riding until I'm 21 so they don't know much about it really.

Apart from insurance won't pay out if you have an off or if you hurt someone else you will have to pay damages out from your own pocket Mad

leave your restrictors in and learn to ride your bike mate.
its not top end speed or 0-60 that you need learn to keep up corner speed and to use brakes a little less Cool

i think i will actually leave them in. sounds too risky for an extra few mph's. it was mainly for my wheelies. i can sometimes get the wheel up quite high but most of the time it is poo.

I already have a race can irridium visor and 6x4 plate and live near a pig station and see at least 2-3 cars a day. no probs yet although i have seen a few cars been pulled.

At 33BHP, you can still get to dizzy heights of 110MPH (Approx) anyway can't you? so why risk it? Confused

If you like your mono wheel action could you not change the gearing a touch to give you a bit more low down acceleration?

I have no idea if this would work on a restricted 33hp bike just a random brain wave.
