Tyres for NSR

I am just about to put new rubber on my 1989 NSR 125 F and was wondering what the general consensus was for what tyres I should be fitting. I am not looking for anything to flash, just a good all round tyre that will last a while and does not cost a small fortune.

Gotta second BT45's, I have used them on most of my bikes and I like them, they stick to the road like glue too.

Seems like BT45s are the order of the day, at least with 2 people, so I will go and get some prices. Anybody suggest where I can go for the best deals. There is a National Tyres round the corner that do bike tyres, has anybody had any experience with them?

Well your looking at £130 for a set of BT45's fitted at the most.

I use a specialist motorcycle tyre place called Sharples Tyres in bolton and there quite good and cheap too.

Never had any dealings with National tyres and I probably never will cos I prefer to stick to smaller tyre dealers and ones that specialise in bikes, as they seem to be more bike focused and actually know what there doing.

They have more than enough grip for use on a small bike and last a good amount of time. You can get stickier tyres but it probably wont be able to get them up to temp anyway, they will not last as long as the BT45's.

l would recomend like everone else BT45,s but l had BT39SS,s on my NSR and they were great never had and problems

If you don't mind the shorter life thanks to the stickier compound, I'd go for the 39SS if you can get them. Never been a massive fan of the BT45, but they are the best choice for a lot of bikes with odd sizes.

Deputy, there are other tyres for the NSR, like the Pirelli MT75 etc, but IMO Bridgestone make the better tyres, they have the best compounds and last longer, and just look how many people have recommended the BT45's we can't all be wrong Wink

I got a cougar tyre off a fella on ebay for my NS125R, he sells new tyres i got a Cougar (rear tyre)110/90-H18 for £28 +£8.50p&p. It's not a sports tyre but it is lasting well, i am quite happy with it as i've been mainly commuting on the bike lately. He sells lots of different sizes so he should have one for your NSR. If you can't see what you're looking for then ask.

Careful though, they don't grip white lines in car parks - especially not when you're dragging your knee at the time Laughing

Well I guess it will have to be the BT45 that everybody seems to love.
As soon as I get back from my week in the sun I will stick a pair on and see how we go.

Have just had a quote from a tyre place nearby (Bikerz in Stoke-on-Trent) of £123 for the pair, fitted, balanced and inc VAT.
It sounded like a good deal to me, comments please.

Thats a very good price IMO for both tyres fitted, as I paid £60 for a front and £75 for the rear not fitted!
