Hi All

This is a post from the TRF forum regarding green lanes in the Peaks.

HOWEVER......

Even if you only ever ride on the road the "anti's" are making noise about banning road bikes from the Peaks.

So this applies to all bikers.

-----------------8<-------------8<------------------

So the PDNPA are going to put a TRO banning Recreational Mechanically Propelled Vehicles from Long Causeway and The Roych Track...............this means us Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

We will not be able to ride these lanes anymore ever..........and they have a list of other lanes they want to ban us from as well.....

we offered them concessions so that they could have the chance to manage the lanes for everybody.........did they do so NO.

They chose instead to Prohibit us from using them altogether :o :o :o

We have two choices..............1) let them get away with it Exclamation ..........or do something about it. Wink Wink

Well we are going to do something about it. On the 24th April we put more than a 100 bikes in the Peak district offices carpark. lets see if we cannot do better than that..........I propose that we get more than a 1000 bikes into the Peak District.

So tell all your mates, all the Road Bikers, 4 x4 people to book SUNDAY 26TH AUGUST .....BANK HOLIDAY SUNDAY as we are going to have ourselves a protest such as never been seen before in a National Park.

Want do we want ..........we want management not Prohibition. and if the Authority does not listen we will keep doing it until they give in. so i have suggest we repeat it on the 9th and 23rd of September.

watch this space.........please put it all the other forums.

I'm not too sure how this is going to help?
They want to ban MCs as they percieve them as a problem
Everyone turns up causing a problem.
They can then say "Look, we were right, MCs are a problem." They push through their ruling and fine anyone turning up.

I'm all for fighting the man, man, but you might do better to encourage more people to use the trails regularly than to rock up once and hang around a car park on sportsbikes muttering vaguely.

What makes a Mechanically Propelled Vehicle "Recreational"?

could bee an idea for a good forum meet. If its a car park we are going to, it would suggest that it is a public road that cars can travel along, and therefore as we pay road tax, so can motorcycles...

I have got full insurance, etc so i dont see how they can allow cars but not motorbikes...

Lets get a list of who will be there? - take a flask, and a couple of sarnies. we can make a meet of it... (perhaps even a few disposable barbies and sausages Wink)

Presumably the ban will include bicycles & wheelchairs since they are propelled by a mechanical action - muscles actuating mechanical levers (bones/joints) which in turn generate pivotal mechanical movement through sprockets chains & wheels?

Perhaps a large group of bikers should congregate and ensure that no cyclists break the rules.

You might want to get an adult to help you with the publicity. And the scissors.

Tricky coves, scissors...
