Does anyone know a good place to try and find a touring companion for a trip to Europe? None of my mates are up for it, and I’d rather not go on my own.

You can probably buy one from Touratech but expect to pay top dollar.

(Or you could put an advert out on a suitable forum for instance https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/

Or join your local BCF section, go out on a few rides and see if there's anyone there who would be up for it.

I ride miles on my own but did a ride out to Germany (in a day) with a couple of friends.
Next day they headed back and i went off into the wilderness on my lonesome and to be honest I felt quite alone for the first several hours but it didn't last long.

I did 2900 miles and could stop whenever and wherever i liked to have a nosy or take pics etc.
If you are with someone, especially if you don't know them, do you think you'll be able to stop wherever or will you be happy with them doing the same.

It's all not that big a place really, Europe. Just get on the bike and go

As I see it's your first post. Where you are would be helpful. And a bit about your self as well. Like where where you thinking of going? Have you done one before?

Don't be afraid to go your own, I tour alone all the time.
I write this from camping le puits in Normandy. A biker
friendly camp site I am staying at while touring North West France.

You will meet other bikers as your tour, especially if your
camping.

Or as said post up some details of where you want to go and
see if anyone fancies going along. You can always part company
if you don't get on.

Ill second that !!

Every year I meet up with a bunch of friends in eastern Europe, last year was eastern Poland, the year was Czech.

My run out on my own my route alone, Then a weekend with the crew then Ill Have a week on my own ambling back across Europe with my tent able to change my route and stops on a whim, if the whether looks crap north of me I head south if south looks iffy Ill head north. camp where I want as often or as long as I want, ride as long as I want, ride a nice piece of road, hey, ride back long it and then camp!
Never an argument, my decision always wins. it cant get better Surprised

The OP should MTFU and head off on his own, its not difficult.
Remember the hardest thing in life to do, is say hello to someone, from there you can generally strike up a convo

Nothing wrong with touring alone.

when staying in big cities or areas of interest stay in hostels that way you'll easily be able to meet people to go partying with in the evening, otherwise you then have to go bar hopping trying to meet people (can be fun, but not every day).
