Just interested really.

I have an annoying habit of shifting my body position to maintain a particular line rather than moving the bike.

Very noticeable on motorways with crosswinds.

I do it less now I've realised I am doing it, have to verbally abuse myself when it happens tho.

Anyone for sharing?

My throttle being more "on" and "off" rather than a gradual speed-limit-abiding device.

Edit: Also using too much rear brake and not enough front brake, and locking the rear as a result under harsh braking sometimes. Embarassed

to eager at roundabouts, too much rear, not enough front on the brakes, tend to use the engine to slow down more than braking if roads clear behind me, oh and erm....oh now i forgot.....oh yeah, generally being a pain on the road lol

Sometimes I don't bother checking over my right shoulder when turning right into a junction.

I'm a fucking twat and abuse myself everytime. Trying to get into the habit for tests and all, and I simply dont!

I think it's because there is rarely anything behind and I'm always checking my mirrors I don't feel the need too..

But obviously there could be that one time so I need to kick myself harder.

Thumbs Up

And generally cornering Laughing

I sometimes tell myself to counter-steer!

I am lazy and/or over cautious and sometimes don't go for overtakes I know I can make. I also ride slowly in unfamiliar territory because I am too poor for a speeding ticket. I make excuses so I feel better about it, excuses like I'll just enjoy the scenery or I am in no rush when deep down there is a part of me that is screaming "get on with it you bastid".

On the other hand, occasionally I'll go out and ride like an arse without thinking twice, normally when I am forced to take the bike on a stupid errand journey and I resent going (i.e. I need KFC) so I'll take the long way home, riding like a twat on a chicken and pepsi high.

I think the difference is that when I have been riding to work a lot, I'll end up totally unenthused by the whole biking thing and I am not willing to accept the additional risk if I am not enjoying it. Sometimes I look at my bike and think it is a shitty waste of a fucktonne of money, other times I'll think it's a custard coloured piece of awesome.

I have a habit of 50 pencing corners at times due to over thinking them to much, when I don't think and let the bike do the work and the corner goes smoothly I'm sat there saying to myself ' See, you bellend, that's how you do it, there's a corner coming up, just do the same as you did on the last one '...

Then promptly 50 pence that fucker aswell...

I dont trust the bike, simple as that.
As a result, i ride to slowly on anything other than complete straights.

I've no idea of the limit of grip or how far i can lean it, and 'cos i ride in nearly no gear I never push it to find out.
So, looks like i'll forever ride slowly lol
(anywhere between 30 and 55 and im happy lol. total waste me having a 500 really Laughing)

That and braking. I've got a total lead foot, so my back brake has to be so loose i can smash it all the way in without locking the rear wheel up, meaning ive basically got no rear brake and all the work is done by the engine/front brake

Going into corners to fast and ending up having to scrub off all my momentum, then I have to drop a cog to stay in the sweet-spot.

If I paid attention and was a bit more fluid through the corners, I could make better progress.

Apart from being pretty shite overall? I'd say the main three are:

Too slow our of corners (even my instructors told me this a year back)...

(very) Poor lines on unfamiliar roads

Going into rather stupid situations without thinking too much about it
(like squeezing past a lorry on a single lane country road Laughing)

Haha! I do exactly this aswell!

I'm also ridiculously paranoid about the 5-0.

This for me. Also extends to filtering - so often I'll decide to not filter because I'm not "in the mood" - but I resent sitting in traffic whether I'm in a hurry or not.

I've got a Strret Triple R with clipons and a full system, I often feel I should be doing a bit more on it than just the daily commute. So occasionally I'll pin it in a straight line ... and that's it. Still got chicken strips after 2 years.

Far too cautious/indecisive about junction approach speeds and taking corners, conversely I'm too ambitious when filtering, theres a lot more I could improve as well.

I was the same on my CBR6. I was like, no way will this bike do that. So one of my mates kneed it round a few roundabouts one day. with one hand and then twos up. Gave me a bit more confidence.

Observation, its improving but need to step up my game more, used to being in the easy city rather than out in the country. Whole new ballpark out there.

My riding lines around bends are too tight sometimes.

Where I live is mountainous, so the majority of bends are blind with a cliff face on one side and a gaping chasm on the other.
Once I'm into a bend, if there's a car coming in the opposite direction I always flinch, puts me right off.
Has a lot to do with the tw@s out here, who find it impossible to stay in their own lane, for more than a few seconds at a time, even on straights, FFS! Rolling Eyes
