Hi

My bike is 1935 BSA X35-0 250cc hand-change 4 stroke.

I'm pretty sure it falls under the 33hp A2 licence restrictions however,

Do I need proof of this for insurance or the rozzers. Rolling Eyes

I'd be shocked if it is over 33bhp - wouldn't worry about it. Doubtful your insurance would ask on a classic bike and it would be up to the police to prove it is over 33bhp, not you to prove it is under!

Might be asked, if so just get it dyno'd somewhere, or find official figures etc.

I very much doubt an ancient 250 will make close to 20hp, let alone 33.

He's talking about a 77 year old 250!
I think figures might be hard to find, and if there are any, it will probably be in old 'witworth' units that say its 3/12Hp or something stupid!

As for Dynoing it? I think that might be a little 'over-kill'

It's a 77 year old 250!

the bike that replaced it, oh, about thirty years later.... the BSA C15 only made 15bhp...... I doubt it was 'less' powerful!

There are very few four-stroke 250's that make more than 30bhp, irrespective of age.... I dont think that there is a very large area of 'doubt' over this one....

And any coppa that's interested, probably be MORE interested in why its not in a MUSEUM, than his licence entitlement!
