Not sure if anyone can help here or can point me to another forum/website that has more technical info but I recently bought an 06 WR250F... my last bike was a tuned WR426, before that an XR440 and a KTM 525 as well as a KTM 300 EXC so the 250F is feeling a bit, lacking!

I bought it because I want to learn to ride faster rather than relying on the bikes power so I'm not looking to make the 250F specifically faster, its plenty quick enough when ridden properly, the problem is that it seems to bog down /really/ easily and seems a bit gutless at times compared to similar 250's.

Is it normal for the little 250 or do I need to make some changes? really don't want a loud exhaust but open to most other options money dependant. I just want to make it more responsive I guess.

...edit...

Found a few things here which I think apply to the UK bike such as airbox mods and exhaust baffle.. worth a try I guess.

https://www.thumperfaq.com/free_mods.htm

Also need to do an oil, oil filter and air filter change before I ride it next.

My 09 KTM 250 bogs off idle when you Cain the throttle - got round it by turning the idle up really high. although you can do the o-ring mod on the accelerator pump.

I have the same mentalility, the 250 Is shit hot -but you really have to keep on the throttle - I ride mine like a smoker.
The KTM's top end is sweet as fuck. Laughing

Just set the suspension up properly and ride the @ss off it Cool

First thing to do is the leak jet - get a #60 in there and it'll rev off idle much crisper.

Set the suspension sag and revert all the clickers back to factory settings.

I would advise against revving the guts out of it (like a 2T!). The 250F makes it's max torque in the middle of the rev range.

Get a decent exhaust on there and the bike will come alive. Also get rid of the EGR kit and replace with a blanking kit if not already done.

I am afraid dude, that is the way they are!

I tried the standard mods, nothing gave me any notably improved bottom end.

Sadly my only advice is live with it, or buy another bike! I was really disappointed with this 'feature' when I bought my WR250F.

Also, fist is too tall and top is too short!! Very Happy

Great bike overall, but a few rubbish points if you want to use it for anything other than competition!
