From my track day at Oulton Park, I was lining up a pass either on the power or on the brakes into the right hander after the hill when the Ducati completely stuffs the guy on the inside. You see me go to grab the brake because I thought they were about to crash right in front of me, lucky the guy wasn't trying to clip the inside curb.

No need for passing like this on a track day IMO, the guy he did it too obviously wasn't that confident as well.

He went for a dodgy gap that started closing when the ride in front cut to the edge of the track. Bad judgement and the cause of accidents. No need.

What bike are you on?

EDIT: ZX6R. How did it feel without a fairing?

Yup definitely agree it was poor judgement.

It wasn't too bad, but a bit annoying at the same time have a look at the picture below - proper bodge job Laughing

Got race fairings on it now though Very Happy

Later that day I set off with him just behind me and I thought 'this is going to be interesting', looked back about 2-3 laps later and couldn't see him anywhere Laughing

Silverstone on the 15th with Dom off here but it's fully booked, looking at Mallory on the 18th though in the fast group if you fancy it?

I ask about the fairing because Ive got a Street Triple R. Done three track days and its been ok but I want a more dedicated track bike and am wondering if I should go for something with a fairing or strip the lights etc off the Street. Would a faired bike make the track experience that much better or is it neither here nor there?

Im not fussed about more power.

Mallory sounds good. I wont be in the fast group though. Who is it booked with?

Yeah definitely makes it better, I did a couple on my FZ6 and much prefer having a fairing. Being able to tuck behind the screen is good and the sports riding position is much better for the track.

What group you going in?

The no limits crew are a good bunch, grab an instructor for a session they give you decent advice!

Id go in novice.

Ive a deposit on a ZZR1400 with the Street going in px. I was vaguely considering keeping the Street as a track bike but after your replies Ill continue with chopping it in.

Means Ill have either a supermoto and have to wring its neck out down the straights or the ZZR. Laughing Ive not done Mallory, are there many long straights? The supermotos might just crack a ton, are they going to be sat flat out for a period of time? If so Ill come on the ZZR.

Ah, shit, Ann tells me we are already triple booked on the 18th. Got a wedding, Ohlins want us to run a stand at the Rally Day event at Castle Combe and we wanted to go to a VDub festival that weekend.

I really cant see be squeezing a track day in as well!

Whens your next one after that?

Looks like we're looking at Mallory on the 17th now. Be good to get some people from here down there!

Sorry mate I completely forgot to reply to this!

Loads of supermotos do Mallory, it’s a short little track and the straight isn’t long at all. Have a look at my recent video from there (I crash at the end Laughing) https://youtu.be/mpK74owXAqQ?hd=1

Yeah as Dom said it’s now the Friday we are going to as it’s only £75!

What did you think of that overtake Dom?

Dodgy as fuck mate.

Problem was, the guy on the Ducati was committed and he did the right thing no panicking and braking hard as he'd have probably lost the front and taken the other guy out.

No need for riding that like on a trackday though. Very silly.

It happens all the time.

Its worse in the Inters, by a mile, as you get the heroes who think they ( or their bike) are too good for the Novices, which instantly causes problems. Or, you get people who are fast enough to sit in the fast group, staying in Inters just so they look like the fastest out there.

I didnt see that much of an issue with the overtake TBH.

I wouldn’t see that much wrong with it if it was in the fast group and everyone was going for the same 6” of the track but doing it to someone who clearly isn’t very confident in the inters…really?

I don’t find it a big deal if I have to back off slightly and wait for a place to put in a tidy pass rather than cutting across someone’s line, it’s a track day not a race.
