Need 2 legal knifes for last resort scenario when encountering Chav dogs, have a break stick, and can break their windpipes, but that,s not an easy thing to do in the heat of things.
Utter fucking plebs with dangerous dogs off lead, no control.
Would rather have one in the ruck sack and not need it, than need it and not have one.
That Quote from the lesbo bitch of Avp, is top notch.
Thinking about 20 quid per knife. ____________________ Jogging on, destination living. |

Personally i think the knife belongs in the owner not the dog and i'm not keen to advise people to carry knives. . .but i see your point.
Lots of people carry lock-knives down here and they're freely available in various sizes in the fishing shops for a few quid. I've got several. . .but only cos i buy one, put it somewhere safe out of reach of tiny hands, forget where that place is, buy another one, put it somewhere safe out of reach of tiny hands etc etc. I carry them to places like the beach (widdling off limpets for rock pooling) picnics when things need cutting-up (better than an open sharp object in a bag) etc.
I've got several diving knives which are much stronger and with quite big serrated blades due to the things they're expected to stand up to. I have got my diving ticket but i can't afford to do diving at present. But i always take one snorkelling as i'm not prepared to get tangled up in the umpteen fishing lines, pots, bouys etc in the water down here.
I guess the only way to carry a knife without being in the poo legally is to have a hobby/pastime that warrants you owning it and carrying it at the time.
I do have a multi-tool in my handbag at all times as it's dead handy. It has a blade on but it's only tiny and not particularly strong.
A knife is a really nasty weapon and unless you know exactly what you are doing with one you run the risk of basically handing an assailant a means of doing you some real damage. If you can think of any other way to deal with a dog whose owner has left you no other choice it'd be a better option ____________________ smile and be happy. . . .it gets right on everyone's tits! |

Yeah, but now they have electrocution devices attached. And dogs can lock on for ages FYI. ____________________ Jogging on, destination living. |

If some Chavs dog is locked onto mine, and break stick and throat punch fail, then it,s getting killed. As for the owner, he can have his dead dog back ____________________ Jogging on, destination living. |

Unless it has a blade less than 3" and is non-lockable. |
Be clear that the legal standard (in England and Wales) is:
| Harris v DPP and Fehmi v DPP (1993) wrote: | to be "a folding pocket knife" the blade [has] to be readily and immediately foldable at all times simply by the folding process. |
I'd be careful about assuming that a multi-tool would be considered "immediately foldable", if it works the way mine does. I keep it on the bike, never on my person.
cov, if you're seriously considering doing this, have you considered a garotte instead? Your "break stick" is more likely to be considered an offensive weapon. The Scotch Beak considered a 5" keyring kubotan to be an offensive weapon
It's just occurred to me that if it had a 3" folding blade in it, it would probably have been OK. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Dunno, I wouldn't carry one, especially not for that purpose. You're less likely to have a garotte used against you by a weapon dog's owner as well.
| Aff wrote: | I assume its the same as mine, open two halves of multitool, knife folds out, then close the two halves of the multitool. This means that the knife wouldn't fold back in without first opening the multitool. |
That. A few years back, I filed a FOI with the Jockurator Fiscal asking them to give their opinion on it, and got the standard "Refuse to disclose as it may assist in the commission of crimes" reply.
Actually, it's been a while, I might chuck another one at them via that webby thingy.
| cornish wrote: | My lock-knives are all longer than [3"] |
If it locks, length is irrelevant. It's only excluded from offensive weapon legislation if it folds (without locking) and the cutting edge is no more than 3".
| cornish wrote: | One of my diving knives is hanging on a (high-up) hook by the door cos i use it in the garden loads. I've had the police round several times due to our colourful neighbours so they've walked past a chuffing great knife hanging at head height and i've never been asked about it |
Inside is fine, you can have anything you like hanging up. Plus you're always armed with your rapier sharp wit. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

take your pick, there's about 50'000 on there which they claim to be "legal to carry"
You can carry anything with good reason. "stabbing a dog" is not good reason.
Best thing you can do is carry a swiss army knife, rather than some locking, serrated, biggest and meanest I could carry "i think I'm fucking rambo and I'm gonna stab every dog for 5 miles" knife.
I have mine with me when I'm out walking with the dog in the woods/across fields - means I can use the tweezers to remove grass seeds from paws and ears, remove thorns, cut any farm/bailing twine which she might become wrapped in.
I sure as hell don't carry it with the intention of stabbing other peoples dogs. It's never even crossed my mind.
Walk your dog somewhere else. |

A screwdriver is an offensive weapon in the right circumstances.
It's all about the context.
Used to walk around with 12 inch butchers knife in a home made sheeth in my new rocks boots when I was 14, just for lulz
thing was SHARP too

I've got the SpyderCo UK Penknife (UKPK), designed specifically for our stupidly restrictive knife laws to be 100% UK legal. Comes sharp as hell too.
Has a clip so you can keep it safe in your pocket, plus one handed opening. Due to the way you hold it, the blade is unlikely to fold back onto your fingers. I use mine most days, and nearly always have it on me.
You don't need a reason to carry it, however, if you are stopped and said it was for 'self-defence' or 'to stab a dog' it would immediately become an offensive weapon (just like a screwdriver or umbrella). best thing to say is 'I didn't realise I needed a reason, as it's a non-locking sub 3" folding pocket knife.'
They're more than £20 though... still, you get what you pay for, and a cheap one is likely to foldup as soon as you hit something solid and cut up your fingers.
Try to make stabbing a dog a last resort though, not normally their fault the owners can't train them. ____________________ Just getting started |

IF. You ever find yourself in need of the ultimate 'dog stopper' I can help you. PM me.
My method is fail safe, requires no dodgy weapons & works everytime.
Only to be used as a last resort but sadly, you do not get to handle sharp bits of steel whether they are 3",4",6",12" & lock or not.
My method costs SFA, except the dogs life.
I was taught this before I was even taught to swim, where I grew up you were far more likely to meet a dangerous animal than to drown in your own stupidity.
Luckily, I've never had reason to use it but I do know folk who have. It's not often I come across dangerously out of control dogs myself 'cos they tend to be dangerously out of control on Chav's backyards & not be out & about being walked like normal dogs do twice a day.
If you ever come across a Chav's dangerously out of control dog & it happens to attack you, then the absolutely last thing you need to do is retrieve your 100% legal 3" lock knife from your rucksack (snort). What you need to do is stop the fukking dog from eating you. That is,in the 1 in 100 million chances of it ever happening, happens. ____________________ "I don't hate the Welsh, I pity them.
