Petrol doesnt matter a damn, oil matters a great deal in that it has to be the same stuff, not the same brand but the same type. Don't go mixing synthetic and mineral oils, but otherwise if for instance you put morris in it before, you can put castrol in it now without a problem.

Why not? I have done it for years. I used to mix them in the bottle. What is the 'other half' of semi-synthetic if not mineral oil?

Just wondering if you have a reason that I am unaware of.

You can't mix mineral and vegetable based oils because they solidify, but you would have to specifically order a vegetable based 2-stroke oil like Castrol-R, you can't get it in shops/garages.

Don't you ever feel that we could stop all new threads on this forum and just start reading from the very first thread again?

The next thread to follow this one will be "What petrol additive is best?" Rolling Eyes

Petrol's petrol. You fill your bike with and it goes. Why can't people just be happy with that?

See, it's all down to marketing executives, those nasty people that make normal people question which petrol to use, or which bog roll to wipe your arse with. Ah, the power of advertising! Laughing As long as I don't look down and see me holding the black handled one at the garage, I don't really care!

I have heard of problems with 2 stroke oils, but the real one to avoid is mixing conventional 2 stroke oils and castor based oils such as Castrol R.

My father had problems with changing to synthetic gearbox oil in his car. After about a year the gearchange became horrible, and another oil change revealed that it had turned to, basically, jelly. He thinks that the Amsoil synthetic gearbox oil reacted over time with the remains of whatever was in there before.

All the best

Keith

Amsoil is the best oil on the market. I am a dealer and every single customer I sold this oil too LOVE it and think of themselves of being stupid for not changning oils in the first place.

My father loved it until the gearchange became awful and he found out why. Lucky he did drop the oil out and change it first, as dealers were saying that the gearbox needed rebuilding.

All the best
