I'm having so much fun with my new insurance company...

My previous insurers Kwik fit have told them I have 6 years NCB.

I have 7. I know I have 7, but how do i prove it?
Infact if you include policies which ran simultaneously I have 9!

Apparently if I don't get in touch with Adrian flux they will debit my account a further £40 on a £200 policy.

Last week they wanted me to pay an extra £40 because according to them my test pass date on my license wasn't the same as what i'd told them.

Where as in actual fact they just couldn't read the paper work they'd asked for and they couldn't even say sorry for the back and forth phone calls i'd had to make all day to resolve their incompetence.

so what do I do now, I can't ring up the DVLA this time.

The policy was paid for outright, the policy has been running just over a month (28th June iirc)

Ideas?

If you know you have 7, ask Kwik Fit for all your previous insurance policy details.

State you KNOW you have 7 NCB, and would like the full history.

No I didn't. my pass date was and is correct. They just misread the various pass dates on my licence and wouldn't take me explaining a licence to them over the phone as evidence. I had to get in touch with the DVLA.

I have suggested this, but because Kwik fit have stated that I have 6 NCB. They are trusting that.

feeling so undermined and made out to be a complete bull shitter by my insurance Evil or Very Mad

How many years does it state on your renewall from quick fit ?

How many years does it state on your previous renewall before you went with quick fit ?

Remember some ins co's have a max number of years NCB they allow.

Or someone like me with 30+ years will be getting paid by the ins co's Karma

Should have your NCB on last years paper work , so send em that , all they need really , ie If it states 6 years and you did not make a claim last year then you must have 7 years NCB

Kwik Fit must have sent a renewal notice, inviting another year. Does it state how many years on the schedule? Do you still have last years?

they did, I don't have it any more as I rang and cancelled the renewal.

I've just called FSA. They've advised I call kwik fit and ask them for my full NCB entitlement and see what they say.

Ask Kwik Fit to open a complaint on the matter. They then have to investigate and respond against strict timescales. If no successful outcome you can then refer to the Financial Ombudsman.

Always keep renewall notice and when cancelling write when it was cancelled on it and who you spoke to incase they forget and bill you again Thumbs Up

Not sure how the FSA can assist here. If kwik fit say you only have 6 years. then you are going to have to go back to who you were with the previous year and hope they still have details.
To get the FSA to do anything you are going to have to prove kwik fit are giving out false details.

As I said before could be that they work on a max of 6 years NCB. So that is all their systems will show.

Rang Kwik Fit, I have 6 NCB according to them from 2007 to 2012

Rang my first insurer A quote, I have 5 with them from 2005-2010.

A quote are sending me proof of NCB earnt with them.

These are all bike NCB and this gives me, as I said in my quote 7NCB from 2005 to 2012.

WHY i've had to spend all morning on the phone on my only day off is beyond me though.

very un happy bunny is about to call my insurance company...

What.. I'm confused.

If you had a policy from 2005 - 2012, that would give you 7 possibly 8 NCB.

You listed 2 policies...which policy has the full NCB.

Rang my current insurers. As ever their attitude on the phone was awful.

The girl tried to tell me that NCB are bound to a bike and that NCB earnt on my GPZ can't be used on the R1.

Then when i questioned that she back pedalled and said they could but not if they were earnt in the same year.

Upon previous phone calls to this insurance company about my test pass date discrepency, upon speaking to the girl at the office I said how can I have passed my test in 2007 if I have 7 NCB. (obviously could of earnt some on CBT but whatever) She stated that if NCB were earn't from policies running during the same year this can happen.

when I asked if they accept these, she said yes,

Odly during my quote they said no

and I can't add them once the policy has started.

The policy was purchased outright 28th June and the 'cooling off' period was 14 days.

So i've wasted two mornings ringing round because 1: they cant read paperwork i've sent them or take my word on where to look on the paper work and 2: my previous insurer made a muck up and my current insurer takes their word over mine.

Now I must wait for my proof of NCB from my insurance company i was with 2005-2010 before then passing it onto Kwik fit (2010 -12) who then must update their system and then I have to call my current insurer again to tell them they can now ask Kwik fit for an upto date NCB

Boils my piss

You can't use no claims from both vehicles.

To me it looks like GPZ from 2005 - 2010, then R1 2010 - 2012.

I've had an insurance policy from 2005-2012

7 continuous years.

3 of those years I had over lapping policies as I had two bikes
so 5 years were earnt on one bike 2005-2010
other 5 years were earn't on the R1 2007-2012

So i have 10 years NCB if the insurance company allow for dual run policies,

I have 7NCB if they don't

I have no idea how kwik fit have magic'ed the number 6NCB up as when I called them they had only got info on policies held by me from 2007 until now.

they sound like cheats!

as i was told even if you have 10 yrs no claims they only take 5yrs into account so anything more than 5+ yrs no claims is wasted.

Plus if you have 10yrs no claims and make a claim you lose 2 yrs no claims from 5 yrs resulting in you having only 3yrs no claims despite you having 10yrs no claims. Confused

This is what happened to me in 2010 when y R1 was stolen!

Yes I can.

2005-2007 I can use GPZ NCB x2
then 2007-2012 I can use R1 NCB x5

If the company allow over lapping or dual run policy NCB I have 10NCB.

My previous insurer has told my current insurer i have 6NCB. when i've caalled my previous insurer they've told me they have data for me holding a policy since 2007. How 2012-2007 is 6 i'll never know.

I do think they make this up as they go along. I'll wait for paper work to arrive and fly off again, then i'll start complaints.

so not happy with this. They take your money then hold you by the short and curlies!

Ah, see I've never overlapped a policy, as you couldn't join the no claims with normal insurers..

the policy was £50, it kept the GPZ insured if anything happened to the R1 or if indeed the GPZ combusted randomly taking out the garage with the R1 in which was TPO only.

Whichever way you look at this I have atleast 7NCB. Where kwik fit magicked the number 6 from I don't know.

Question is, who do I complain to, which company, the current ones for there stinking attitude every time you call and or kwik fit for their poor maths?

Current ones to say they are incompetent and can't count to say that you are leaving them and going to someone who honours your 7 years NCB.

See what happens then Wink
