A friend has RST stuff.

Some of the stitching came away in a couple of bits.

Then he crashed, so they wouldn't repair the first lot.
Also, more stitching came apart from a non-impact/abraded area, despite it only being a minor crash.

Are the things on the front of the Rift trousers vents rather than pockets? Vents = good for hot weather, pockets = good for all weather.

Either way I'd try and score something used for less, there's not much benefit to buying new if you don't mind giving the crotch a scrub.

I have an RST Enduro jacket and I dunno what RST trousers. They look like the Alphas, single pocket, non-removable thermal lining. You wouldn't want to wear them in hot weather, I'd suggest you find a different solution for summer wear. Thermal lining is nice for winter, but you can always layer up. The long zip is nice, I suppose, but I've zipped them together exactly once, and that just to see what it was like. Binding, is the answer.

Both have budget "SINAQUA" lining, and like fcuk is it waterproof after a couple of years of use. Water resistant, yes, but tell that to my elbows. The thermal lining (fixed in the trousers, removable in the jacket) will keep water away from you, but that doesn't mean the shell or lining is waterproof. TK Direct (wash in and spray on) has failed to restore any original waterproofing that was present, and now I just use cheap lightweight (but taped seam!) packaway waterproof jacket and trousers over the top of leathers.

I had occasion to look at compare apples for apples between the RST Hi-Viz and the Hein Gericke Hi-Viz jackets about a year ago. Both jackets are of a sort-of-a-similar design.

The RST was about £200 the HG was £350.

The RST was tissue compared the the HG so I got the HG.

On a budget RST works but like most stuff if you are needing the gear to perform regularly or for a while better dig deep or wait for something decent to come along.
Once you buy it you need to wear it so to speak.

cheers

i went with the jacket and the rift trousers some reason the rift ones looked like they had to offer more protection

also

im all matching lol

i have rst jacket, trousers, and vortex 2 boots

just one thing missing

a bike lol

all this is so im properly dressed for my tests so i dont look like a chav, i am 17 after all so its best to give the best impression to the examiners possible, also its pointless spending loads on protection when its only for my lessons and test, i dont have any money for a bike yet, by next june i should so then it will probably be time to buy some more new gear
