I can tell you about ER5 and 6 as I've had personal experience of them. Did my MOD1 training and test on ER5 - thought it was a great bike did everything I wanted it to but I digress really. I then went onto the bigger ER6 for my MOD2 training and test - the ER6 is an awesome bike in comparison. Plenty of power when you want it, super comfortable and just a generally very easy bike to ride.
But I think with 3 n half grand you could get pretty much whatever you wanted
I know I didn't write too much but to summarise it : I liked the ER6! ____________________ I'm Sam; Northern, Ginger, Lover

Get an SV, they are great beginner bikes.
Or (although there is 110% an ulterior motive) a Thundercat isn't baaaad... ____________________ CBT done - 24/03/2012, theory test done - 03/04/2012.. Mod 1 done -26/06/2012, Mod 2 done - 29/06/2012. Current steed: Cage.

'Show me how to check the horn' (Seriously!)
'Tell me how you'd check the drive chain'
~ Me: Check for rust, kinks, damaged links, check it's oiled, check sprocket teeth & check the tension........
He followed this up with 'Tell what the tension should be on a chain'
~ Me: I'd check the owners manual for the correct tension.
'If you were taking a passenger, tell me what adjustments you might need to make to the bike'
~Me: Adjust rear suspension pre-load, mirrors, headlight angle.
& he then followed up with 'Tell me how carrying a passenger would affect your motobike'
~ Me: Slower acceleration, longer braking distances, top heavy due to extra person.
He seemed happy with everything I'd said so we started riding after this.

Thundercat *Found one for a bargain at £1000* |
Sounds good, leaves you with £2.5k over which is a nice fund for the next bike. Seriously though, I absolutely love my Thundercat. At least take a look at one, it's alot nicer than the ER6 IMO ____________________ CBT: Pass 25/06/2011 Theory Test: Pass12/06/2012 Mod 1: Fail 08/07/2012
