I wouldn't buy anything from someone who is incapable of turning off their caps lock. Or indeed making any attempt whatsoever to describe the condition of the bike.
You also have to wonder why he's only used four of the twelve pictures he gets included with the insertion fee for a vehicle auction.
He also used the word "MINT" in his auction.

Could be an export plate and it's never been exported.
Squaddies can buy vehicles for export and they get issued with standard UK plates (usually with a red band around the edge) but they have to leave the country within 6 months and they often don't appear on the DVLA database.
This one may have got through the net, which could mean the person who re-registers it will have to pay the VAT on it's original purchase price. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

Bazza is correct, you will have to pay the duty on it to get it registered in the UK.
The seller can probably do it easier than you can, the MOD, has it's own customs dept., who will have all the correct forms to fill in.
Just depends how much duty is payable. ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |

Yeah, but you were waffling on about having to pay the VAT, which, IIRC, doesn't apply if the bike has been outside the UK for more than 12 months.
+1 for effort -2 for accuracy. Therefore, ignore. |
And as I said, it's possible it's never been out, hence there could be duty to pay, but you won't find out until you try and register it. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

And then there's this, for the benefit of the wilfully illiterate
Quote
The VAT Act 1994
Section 30(8) permits the zero-rating of goods removed from the UK and supplied to a customer for export. It also provides the authority for further regulations and conditions...............
..........and the presence of the goods in the United Kingdom after that date or the non-observance of the condition has not been authorised for the purposes of this subsection by the Commissioners, the goods shall be liable to forfeiture under the Management Act and the VAT that would have been chargeable on the supply but for the zero-rating shall become payable forthwith by the person to whom the goods were supplied or by any person in whose possession the goods are found in the United Kingdom; but the Commissioners may, if they think fit, waive payment of the whole or part of that VAT.
So, as I've said, if that vehicle has never left the UK and/or doesn't have any paperwork to back up it's export, whoever finds themselves in possession of it, can be liable for it's original VAT content. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

I still stand by my previous comment.
The seller is clearly of limited intelligence so getting a) The truth. and b) The appropriate paperwork. out of him will be an uphill battle ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
