Last night a photo (taken last week, or the week before) of me and my best mate next to eachother with our arms out to the side (from behind) was uploaded to faceshit.

I removed all the tags of me and any association from my profile 'cause I don't really want it flaunted over facebook, but the plates aren't edited out either.

I've asked who uploaded it to get it off sharpish but atm it's still there...

I had this worry as soon as the picture was taken.

Should I worry about it or reckon it'll be fine?

Cheers,
Mike

It was taken before you bought the bike. Must've been the previous owner.
Now stop being a tit and keep your hands on the handlebars.

Why worry, anybody walking down the street who sees your bike can see the reg anyway.

Just to clear up because your post is a little confusing.

You and your friend we each on your bikes riding next to eachother. Riding no handed with your arms out to the side. Someone uploaded that to Facebook, still with Reg plates.

I wouldn't worry about it.

You could always say you did it on a private road and photoshopped it in to the public street if somebody tried to question you about it? Or the previous owner did it? Maybe someone else did it and someone shopped your plates on to it to make it look like you.

Whilst I'm not a legal bod. I was under the impression that digital images didn't stand up in court very well due to the posibility that they could have been edited?

Good points, cheers guys.
(and Mr Fisty, its that we're riding next to eachother no handed, that's where the problem I think is)

I was just worried that somehow people (okay extreme example, but I can be a little bit of a hypercondriac) like that bloke who rode like a c*nt on youtube from a helmet cam managed to somehow get done for it, that riding no handed, next to another bike riding no handed, down an obvious public road would be quite easy meat for them.

Mike

mind you, it's a pretty epic picture

Isn't there a button you can click on failbook to have a picture taken down?

As far as I know it just sends the owner of the photo a message saying something along the lines of "I don't like this picture, please remove it" Confused

I can remove 'tags' of me and remove it from my profile but I can't remove it completely off facebook :/, only the poster of the picture can do that.

For a start if, like in my situation something you could get potential shit for is put up, hiding the plate is just extra security, and basic common sense.

Also, a lot of number plate theft happens, where someone else say, with a blue hornet '98 like me gets a copy of my plate made, he commits the crime on his bike, I get the fines, points, all the legal shit.

Its not odd, it's just common sense and responsibility.

There's plenty of 'point'.
It makes it difficult for someone with the zact same bike as you to make and fit a show plate with your reg No. to his/her bike and then commit random misdemeanours on the highways but for you to defend.

At least a Careless Driving..

ps I'm just off the phone to them now as a matter of fact.

Some cock on here before took a numberplate from autotrader and put it on his bike then was riding around.

Many moons ago now.

I always leave my plate on though, how do you know someone won't clone your plate from an ad years ago, or from when it was brand new in the showroom.

Regarding riding with no hands, doubtful it's worth them chasing you down for. Maybe a one handed wheelie or whatever, but people post wheelie pics on here all the time with lots of things.

When I had facebook I had burnouts, wheelies, stoppies, kd and all manner of things on there with no plates blacked out. Still up now, never had any problems.

Legally: don't admit to anything, don't deny anything, make no statement, volunteer no information. You can't realistically be served with a Section 172 because the date, time and place can't be determined with specificity. If you are, then getting proof of postage for an empty envelope would probably serve as a defence to the charge of not replying, but that would be very, very naughty so don't do it.

Real life: If you're not gangsta enough to laugh off the minuscule risk of getting a tiny fine, then why ride like you don't give a fuck?
