Hi guys,

since there are literally no videos with this bike, I decided to present it to the world. Nothing special to be honest, I recorded some material in 2 days and spend another 2 days making it.

Any ideas, opinions or tips how to improve it?

Don't forget to switch to HD Smile

One of my dream bikes is the Tornado. I want the green and silver version. They just look fantastic.

Some say they dont handle great. Some say they are glitchy with typical Italian tempers but I dont care. I want one.

Great vid. Thumbs Up

nice to see somebody riding a bike like that and actually taking it over 3,000 rpm.

You need to work on those gear changes though, could have a brew between each one Laughing

Always loved Tornados, they are really goo value for money too.

Is the reliability really as bad as I've heard?

The paint finish on the early models was a bit poor, but always replaced under warranty. The side fairings would peel a bit from the edges.

A common problem is a coolant leak from a rusty core plug. They're basically small round 'plugs' that sit in the cylinder and over time they tend to rot away. They're a pretty easy fix though.

I've had a couple with a faulty temperature sender which is also reasonably cheap and easy to fix.

The worst of the problems stems from bad sealing of the ignition coils though, which sit on top of the spark plugs. One for each cylinder. In wet weather water builds up and rusts the inside of the coils. Usually it's the middle one that fails. Takes a while, maybe a year, but eventually it breaks down and misfires on that cylinder. Expensive to replace the coil but the problem can be avoided if you use silicone sealant around the coils. Usually the importer/dealer would have done this before handing over the bike to a customer.

That's about it, that I can remember. Haven't worked on one for about a year. I used to work for a Benelli dealer.

One more thing, not really a reliability issue but an issue nonetheless: Not many people (dealers) know how to set up the fuelling properly. They run a bit rough straight out of the box. I got quite good at setting them up and it made a HUGE difference to the feel of the bike. They always seem to run lean from the factory so a quick 10 minutes of revving the bike while it's plugged into the diagnostics and air/fuel meter sorted them out. Before I got used to doing that I used to set them up on a dyno but I found that I could gauge the correct fuelling by just revving them. Also, the smell. Oh the smell. When they're running right they have a really distinct smell of richness and mmm.

OK enough of my waffling. Good vid. Thumbs Up

Thanks guys, i'm really glad people like this vid.

pinkyfloyd: I don't think handling is bad in any way. Actually, i really love how easy Tornado leans. It's the reliability i'm concerned about - but til know *knock-knock* everything is perfect...

promufa: all footage taken around my hometown in Slovakia.

salty21: i know Smile

Is it near by Czech/Slovakia border? We could have a ride together. I've never seen a Tornado before Smile
