Sold the GS500 and after a few days of looking around and putting in some miles, picked up this yesterday (apologies for poor quality) ;
https://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l586/richtea70/cbad520b.jpg
2007, 2200 miles, £2500.00. Really pleased with it, but weather has been peeing down since, and with work, haven't had a chance to go for a proper spin.
Anyway, the guy who had it has done 900 miles in the last 3 years! Whilst it has had regular oil changes, its only had its 600 mile dealer service from new.
Is it worth getting a service on it now or is it just the normal stuff you can do at home (oil/air filters, check everythings tightened/lubricated etc)?
Also are there any known problems I can check for/prevent with this bike aside from the generic stuff?
I took a while finding the right bike as most seem to be modded with exhausts/air boxes or Monster Energy stickers, so this is a standard bike wihich is just what I wanted as I'm on the 33hp restriction.
Any comments welcome,
Thanks,

So jealous!
Amazing price too, that would be up for £3.5k here
Let us know how it goes, I'll hopefully be getting one of these on 33bhp too
Just noticed you're from Reading, how did you get it so cheap! Haha, sell it to me when you're done? ____________________ 07' Honda Hornet now full powaah! My guide on performing an oil change! |

I spent two days going through every ad I could find for a DRZ, and emailing/phoning with offers. This guy sounded genuine and had had the bike up for sale for two months but had forgot to renew the advert so had had no calls. Originaly wanted £2800 but I haggled hard! ____________________ 2005 Honda Varadero 125xl > 2005 GS500F > 2007 DRZ400 SM > 600 Bandit & Yamaha YP250 |

Nice bike.
Thieves love them, you might want to consider a thicker chain and a cover . |

Nice machine. I've always had a soft spot for these. I don't know why, there's just something about them. Maybe it stems from when I was younger, around 18, and some guy let me have a go on his as he saw me on the Suzuki TS50.
Looks nice in that colour too ____________________ Previous Ride's - '01 Aprilia SR125 (Sold) '08 HONDA CBF600n (Sold) '96 CB500 (Sold) '01 FZS 1000 (Sold) '06 CB1300SA (Sold) '07 CB600F Hornet (Sold) - '93 Suzuki Savage LS400 (Sold) '98 Honda VTR1000 Firestorm (Sold) '05 CB600F Hornet (Sold) '01 FZS1000 Fazer (Sold) 2016 Harley Davidson Street Bob SE (Sold) '02 Kawasaki ZX9R (Sold) '98 CB600F Hornet (Sold) '04 Suzuki Bandit 1200s (Sold) '13 Yamaha FZ1-N |

I had a full FMF powerbomb system on mine, with a semi automatic clutch, non std forks, carb from something else and a very precisely cut set of holes in the airbox cover.
Was okay fun. Set of acerbis plastics (no mudguard or tank) was 70 quid, so I bought and stickered up for the inevetable drops when pushing too hard.
I found d209s really good on my SM wheels.
Keep on top of the oil level if you wheelie a lot. ____________________ Previous: GSF600, FZR600 x2, ZXR750, XT600 Tenere, CB125, CZ125, ETZ 250, ER5, CCM R30, DRZ400, RF600x4, RF900x2, GS500, VTR1000F, 640 SMC, CB250 NIGHTHAWK, GT550x3, GPX750 TE610, CB500, X11x2, SV650, ZING 125, TL1000R,CB250 Superdream, CBR1100XX |

The camchain tensioner is a spring-loaded ratchet that pushes on the camchain guide to keep the chain automatically tensioned as it wears).
A manual tensioner is a device that you have to adjust manually (a bit like having to adjust your drive chain) but have a care because many people set them too tight and cause premature wear to the camchain guides. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
