and thought fuck it?

guess it would be pretty easy to filter through heavy traffic and use the power available to you to accelerate away from the lights, leaving them still struggling to get through.

I also bet it would really dent your pride trying to pull someone over because they filtered past, you shit your pants because you didn't check your mirrors then you tried to do the mr. Big with your flashy light but, you end up looking like a knob stuck behind a KA and a bin wagon whose driver is shouting "Go Go Go!!" to the fella you're after.

Knobhead.

Obviously a rhetorical question with a bit of a story to help you think about what you'd do.

I don't think they try too hard to get bikes, and if they don't get your plate then you've got away with it.

Never had the chance, i've either gone past them faster than they can be bothered with or they've caught me in some town centre.
I did once pull into a drive way late at night on my Aprilla RX50 and switched the lights off, they sped past.

This, but not that I actually have to date.

I've had a copper going the other way whilst I've been speeding before, but there's no chance they can have seen the plate. In the time it would take them to turn around and be up to speed, I would be long gone.

In that specific instance though, I had no need to nail it away. Despite overtaking a car at about 20-30mph over the 40 limit (It's a safe road, should be NSL really minimum) she didn't even seem to look at me!

Plod sees a bike do a very fast overtake and then slow back to the limit he's not going to waste time over it.

Bike going the clappers through traffic way over the limit with no sign of letting up then they'll have you one way or the other.

I have, but not deliberately. It would appear they were trying very hard to catch me too by the speed they went past the end of the side road I'd just parked up in.

I have had a discussion with a traffic copper about how the first thing people on a bike do when they notice the traffic car behind them is look down at their clocks. He was of the oppinion that they are looking at their speedo to see how much trouble they're in.

I suggested that a fair percentage of them might actually be checking their fuel guage to see if it's worth doing a runner. He simply didn't get this. I explained that the first thing that goes through my head when I see a copper behind me is "Do I stop?". Simply did not compute.

EDIT: I've hidden from one in traffic before having done the whole top-gun thing where you hammer on the brakes and pull across at the last second leaving him to "fly right by". It's very difficult to safely get back behind someone on a motorway when you're in front of them and they want to keep you there. Especially when you start slotting inbetween wagons.

Had this happen to me a few days back. I initially thought it was one of those big grey people carrier type taxies coming towards me, until I got closer.

Once I realised it was a cop van I immediately hit on the brakes to slow down. I could see them looking at me as I went past and kept looking in my mirror half expecting to see it turn round and come after me but, they never did.

Probably realised They would have had no chance as I was approaching a double roundabout and could have easily lost them if needed.

I'd comment, but G would only try and twist my comments to imply hypocracy!

All I'll say is, if you don't have ANY 'plate'... then they HAVE to catch you.......

It would be easy to get away from them. But they would have noted down your plate imediatly.

A few times had the blues and twos go on and I've been far enough away or known they couldn't have seen my plate and just opened it up and gunned off.

If I think / know they've made my plate, might as well just pull over depending on the situation.

However, if I was doing something stupid, like 130 down a motorway and I saw a copper parked up and didn't have time to slow down, I would just carry on and try and loose them. I wouldn't care if they had my plate or not, you're getting bummed at them speeds anyway so if there's a possibility of getting away and denying you know who was riding, I would rather be prosecuted for failing to identify the rider and take 6 points and the £1000 fine.

Funnily enough I got flashed by a cop car yesterday, presumably because I went into a corner hanging off. Needless to say I nailed it, not because I'd done anything wrong but because I didn't fancy having my time wasted by some badged twat trying to tell me a lean-angle greater than 20 degrees constituted "without due care". With a lecture about wearing jeans on a bike.

if it's seriously dangerous they will chase and they will get you,

some not saying all of them have camera's in the front and some even have camera's in the rear, in New Zealand they can even catch you for speeding coming towards you, you have to be very careful now day's what with technology getting forever better Thumbs Down

in some way's it's bad, in some way's it's very good, because some people who drive & ride shouldn't be on the road.

if your on back road's it's easier to get away as i have had a close call once but don't think he actually started chasing, i think he just followed me.

Velcro number plate's are the best though, i have seen a couple of people use them Thumbs Up

to be honest though most of the boy's in blue can't be bothered to do the paperwork !

Don't police cars have those cameras on the front also?

So they could just give up and look at the footage afterwards...
This is a dangerous thread, hope noone get's pulled and thinks "fuck it i'm gonna run! BCF will love this!"

I had done nothing so knew the cop just wanted a bribe, so he wasnt going to post a fine since he didnt catch me speeding or anything.

A month later I did stop as to shoot past the cop I would have had to lane split between oncoming traffic. That would leave me open to recklessness on a national road. I wasnt speeding, so the black cop tried to get me to pay up for the amber filter on my headlight. I referred him to the section of the traffic act about colour of lights which allows amber, yellow or white, as long as all the same colour. he said it is friday, why cant I be nice, in other words slip him a few bucks, but i told him no, I want the fine so I can see him in court for issueing an illegal fine. After seeing I wasnt going to cough up and there no faults with my bike or licence, he said can he take pics next to my bike, I said OK, and then he let me go.

Corrupt bastards.
Is the description of the police men as black really important to this story? Do you not have corrupt white policemen?

I have never encountered one of these. Ive encountered plenty of the other.

And it goes to the top. Did you read about Jackie Selebi? head of our 'new' police force and sent to be chief Of Interpol. Caught taking bribes from drug lords and leaking interpol information. Our next 2 police chiefs also fired for corruption, murder, bribes. That is 3 strikes in a row in their top ranks.
