...I hate you Middle Finger

Down in Essex we're stuck with pretty boring shite roads, you however are blessed with some of the best riding roads I've ever seen!!

Of special mention is the A5 running right into Snowdonia (where we camped this weekend at Lynn Gwynant) and it was amazing! Wide roads, long sweeping bends, tight apexes, surrounding mountains and beautiful scenery and running through mountain passes. It was a pretty decent riding high. Not to mention the abundance of other bikers that seemed to be enjoying the good weather.

So envious rant and coolstorybro.jpeg over, where else does BCF get envious of around the UK/World?

(I dont think we've had one of these in a while so should make for some interesting insight Laughing )

The A5? Shocked Seriously, the A5 is one of the best roads you've ridden?

The A5? Shocked Shocked

*shakes head*

Sucks to be you! Razz

There are far better roads in North Wales, some of them are actually off the A5. Laughing Boy do you have a lot to learn..........

Give me a break, the missus had just been stuck 12 inches in the air on the back of a ZX6R for 5 hours, I wasn't allowed to venture off the beaten track Laughing

Also I should mention only the section of the A5 once it hits Snowdonia/Betys-y-coed area, obviously the dual carriage/standard road bit was shit.

Also the A498 and A4806 were pretty decent!

Get yourself up towards North Yorkshire & Cumbria. The scenery and the roads are amazing.

Get yourself to Kirby Longsdale (J36 M6) there's a big bike meet there every weekend, after that take the road to Ingleton.

At Ingleton take the Whores road. And then just explore.

Even where I live, I have moorland roads with virtually no traffic, even though my jobs not great. I'm lucky in that I can spend my lunch hour riding some great open limit roads, I do about 40 miles on a lunchtime.

They seem as yet to be undiscovered in wales

They're still using the barter system, chickens, pigs and sheep. Although of course the sheep have other uses. I believe the Welsh occasionally use them for meat and wool.

As to indicators they're obviously the work of the devil and use that magic 'lectric' stuff. Although they'll tell you it's all the work of pixies.

I do believe they have some good roads. However, the constant rain actually limits their full use. That and their attitude to motorcycles in general.

Very Happy Wink

North Wales is just the Tesco Value version of North Scotland.

It'll suffice, but you really want Finest.

I'm already trying to sell a Scotland trip to the missus Smile

I fear I'll need to go all Ewan and Charley and buy a R1200GS before she'll go for that kind of seat time though.

Camped for a week at Lynn Gwynant, good campsite. Cheap and really well situated for a walk to snowdon or tryfan.

Have they finished the new shower block yet?

It really is a good long distance bike and very pillion friendly, in spite of all the posers that have bought into it.

You should see where I have taken mine, with pillion on remote gravel roads.

The Pics I have seen of riding in scotland look awesome. Would love to be out in the highlands on remote off road tracks. It does look as if the weather can close in on you very quick though.

I thought that too.

Just got back from a week in wales, a week in which I didn't have my bike. Was taunting seeing nice roads whilst being stuck in the passenger seat of a cage!

Can also +1 to North Yorkshire, the dales are great to ride in... whilst it's not raining! Except then you can just pull in to a pub and everyone's really talkative and friendly... unlike the Midlands where sitting and having a conversation with somebody that you don't know is practically unheard of. Me and my ex did that after a long and rainy trip through the dales, we were freezing. Sitting by the wood fire drying our gear with a cup of tea and talking with the locals was brilliant. Thumbs Up

I moved to central Manchester from the middle of Snowdonia 2 years ago. The roads in and around Manchester almost make me cry at their blandness compared to some of the stuff in North Wales. The A5 is also a bit rubbish for actually riding but does have some excellent scenery so if going a zillion mph all the time isn't your thing then it'd be a good road to ride (but not on a bank holiday weekend).

We just had friends visit us and they were describing the lovely scenery they saw on their drive down to see us. Though I suppose if you live in Cannock, a trench full of burning cattle would also be 'lovely scenery'.

Indeed, the A470 over Brecon becomes a procession of bikes going up your way from Cardiff, Newport and Bridgend when the weather is nice.

I keep meaning to go back to Beulah and see if I can find any bits of my SV...

Having tried both, this is also true, the Highlands are utterly fantastic, and mostly deserted. But i'll take 15 mins travel over 8 hours any day Very Happy
