ifind the sv forum not very usefull |
The SV lot are a bit, well, wet. As for different forks - there's not a massive amount to be gained from it; the current forks and brakes are pretty well matched up with the amount of power available on an SV.
All you're really paying for with a USD conversion is bling factor, as far as I'm concerned.
The guys at JHS racing really, really know their stuff, and if they reckon that a properly set up cartridge kit is worth the money, then it probably is. The brakes can be improved* with maintenance and TLC.
*I say this because most instances of people complaining about the brakes on an SV are usually down to having properly furred up brake pistons. ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |

The problem with them has always been the engine. It just starts to wake up, then you hit the redline. It needs an extra 300cc, and the power shoved down into the midrange.

The forks are a bit pants. They have damper rods, which aren't up to the latest cartridge forks, and they are oversprung. However, I'd sort the standard ones before swapping them out, or I'd swap them for a cheap RWU front end like a GSXR600 SRAD. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F

Changing your forks to USD will not effect the handling a great deal.. (not that an average person would notice anyhow) The only thing it will do is improve the looks as stated.
Get the current forks set up for your weight and you will see a transformation straight off.
