Hi, just went and taxed the 636 today and expected to pay the 'over 600' band but was suprised when the lady charged me 400-600 band? Thought this was odd but when I looked at the old tax disc this was the same from a different post office? Both tax disc's say 599cc? Is this right? Wouldn't want to get stopped by plod!

Thanks

I've had mine for 5 years and it's always been in the top bracket....

DVLA Vehicle enquiry

Check what the price is for 12 months on the above site and then cross reference with:

Thanks for that. It does indeed say the tax rate as 55 quid a year on the enquiry website.

In your sig it says a "Kawazaki ZX6R 636 51".

51 year models are only 599cc. It should state on the V5 what capacity the bike is.

Ninja's were 599cc till the B1H/B2H models (2003-04) which then increased to 636cc.

They were on as standard AFAIK but bot sure why. The only thing I can think of is they were going to use the 636 engine but wasn't ready in time for that model and stuck it in the B1H.

It is a 01 model. 02 models didn't have those stickers on and then the 03 (B1H) were the start of the 636 engines.

Kawasaki were in a bit of a mess late 90's early 00's Laughing

Looks like an A1P, which is a 636 engine, 2001 would be J2 no?,

As far as i know the A1P was the first 636 model in roughly the same frame/design as the earlier G/J models, before the B1H more focused machines.

Have a look at the frame number. From memory it will be start with ZX600A or ZX600J to tell which one it is.

{edit} Just looked up the one from my old model and it was JKAZX600JJ - the JJ denoting a J model.

The earliest 636 was the A1P model which wa basically an upgraded engine in the old G/J set up.

Seems a funny error on the DVLA part, its all computerised so the post office just issue what comes up on the computer screen.

Possible its a J model dressed up as a 636....What was it sold to you as?

I bought it as is. Just looked on the green slip from the log book and that mentions 599cc! Theres photos from the bike going back years (bought it from the sisters other halfs father) so i'm pretty sure the panels havent changed.

G and J models are 600's (599), The A1P and B1H/C models were 636.

What does the capacity say on your engine?
