I spend a decent amount of time away from home, sometimes with no charging source available.

Has anyone had a USB attachment for their bike? I could probably stash it in my small under seat storage on the CB.

Would be best if I can charge while the bike is off (I assume that a mobile phone battery of ~1Ah at 5v shouldn't tax the bike too much (12Ah at 12v), unless the inefficiencies suck a oot of that up.

I dont know about any USB attachments, but you could connect one of those cigarette lighters onto the bike and then connect a USB adapter into that.

This is what I do. You can find the USB cig adapters in most pound shops

I use one of them pound shop jobbies. And I got a cigarette lighter socket from ebay for a few pounds.

I use mine to power my sat nav. I've relayed mine, because I only use it when the bike is on.

I found one in Halfrauds and connected to the battery.

Some of them have LEDs to indicate 'powered'.
Cut the wires to the Diode or your battery will be flatted if left for a while.

If you don't mind splashing out a bit.

This is Splash Proof

Lol. I don't think you need to worry about a little led killing your battery.

Most LEDs are around 20mA or 0.020 amps.

It would take over a month to drain a motorcycle battery.

I have one of these attached directly to the battery

If you take a multimeter to it it doesn't draw any power unless you have the usb cable plugged in to it, so fine to leave it attached all the time, but without the usb lead connected.

Yeh got a cigarette lighter connected straight to the battery and I just stick a cigarette --> USB converter in and jobs a good un. I like the fact that I can charge it when the bike is off, has helped me out in a few situations.

I'd avoid the £1 usb cigi socket adaptors.

I had one from poundland and it went bang and took out a £250 gopro with it Crying or Very sad

Worth spending a fiver on a genuine belgin one.

cigarette lighter with USB charger here too Thumbs Up just don't fall for "special" Ipod etc ones that cost over £20, you can get a decent no name one for about £2 thats exactly the same.

Driving along with it recording and on charge, bang !!

Scorched adaptor and although gopro still recorded it would no longer connect or charge via usb socket
