Hi Smile

My brother in law's XR125 has decided to let rust eat its exhaust Rolling Eyes

Trying to find a reasonably priced replacement but it seems pretty tough. Not what I was expecting for what is, essentially, a fairly common cheap bike.

Anyway, does anyone know where I can find a cheap replacement exhaust for it?

Usual Google / Ebay have thrown up some rather heftily priced answers but I was hoping he'd have to spend less than the £300 Honda want Laughing

Cheers

What is actually wrong with it?

Welding it would be the normal course of action usually. In my experience replacements cost a fortune, presumably because people get them welded.

I think it'd cost more than the Honda genuine item just in plate and/or wire Laughing

It's pretty well gone TBH, there's not much left of it on the inside and I doubt there's much to weld to. It's also gone right around the flange to the silencer itself, so fairly tough to weld up I'd have thought.

Might be an option though, I guess. Will get someone to have a look.

Fair enough- it does sound quite far gone...!

I've got the same bike, and the front downpipe has rusted away (thread in workshop lol)

A second hand one went on ebay for £65 and new they are £81, so I got a new one.

You could get one of them if you need the full exhaust system, and the end bit off ebay Thumbs Up

The front bit turned out to be ok - despite looking a bit ropey, it'll last a bit longer.

Got the rear section from that link, so thanks for the link Iain Thumbs Up

All sorted, and ready for its MOT tomorrow.

The bike itself? Came from his older brother - they did a swap for a few bits, as kids do.. The older brother had it for ~2 years prior to that and got it from a kid down this way in Thurrock.

Ahhh, that's ok then, as I sold a XR recently that had its MOT due in August.

I can sleep tonight!
