The other half passed her DAS test three years ago and has made do with a CBR125 since that time. Not the kind of bike that captures ones heart.

With my recent purchase of the S1K and the Fireblade before that, it was her turn to purchase a new toy.

She wanted another horse but I put my foot down firmly and we ended up with this little gem instead.

The wife is a lover of all things retro so fell in love with it the moment she set eyes upon it.

A UK registered VFR400 (NC30) that started its life as a grey import.

1900km on the clocks.

It was seemingly imported, crashed and thrown into a garage and forgotten about. Along came a very good friend of mine who over the last few months has stripped it down to its nuts and bolts and with the greatest of care and more patience than I could ever hope to have, has breathed new life into the old girl. She looks stunning.

Forks, brakes, brake discs and brake lines replaced. All new stainless fixings used and new seals everywhere. Added a new exhaust, reconditioned the forks and added new internals.

Finally she was given a new colour scheme. The ‘Hayden’ Honda Repsol Valencia 2008 livery.

She purrs like a kitten and the wife loves it. I can’t wait to take her out myself.

Hope you approve with the rebuild.

Rumps.

Congratulations. The first time I've ever looked at rim tape and actually seen the appeal!

Bike looks spot on except for the stickers and colour scheme. Are they replacement fairings or originals? I'd be tempted to go back to the original retro colour scheme if it were my bike, not least because it'd boost the bikes value. But you like what you like i guess Thumbs Up

Original fairings.

Y U no like my paint job? Very Happy

I like the original colour scheme but a lot of work and cost involved.

This is much more simple and I think quite eye catching.

Now a quick question. What tyres for a track day? I'm thinking BT090's.

Ah erm.... damn you noticed.

A little embarrassed to say, but I cannot get the seat off. I have a seat cowl but the locking mechanism on my seat is at present playing up.....

Confused

I have to agree, not over keen on this colour scheme, red/white/blue rc30 replica is made of win!! Thumbs Up

Oh and I hope you will be getting a cheap fairing for track days? The original fairing in good condition is worth money and hard to come by.

IF they are original fairings then I would get another set for track, as shereen said they are worth a bit and not all that common. With that paint scheme and the fit around the lights i would say they are a Chinese set, not that it matters as it still looks good. They are fantastic bikes and awesome fun, I recon they would make great track tools, as long as its not too straight anyway.

Good buy Thumbs Up

BTW you're probably aware of it, but just in case... Check the reg/rec. If it's an original one:
https://scbbikes.s3.amazonaws.com/PartImage_ae5d4849-91ac-4c15-9780-f078e9b80239

chuck it in the bin and replace it. I used one for a late 90's cbr600:

https://i.ebayimg.com/t/Honda-VFR400-NC30-Regulator-Rectifier-715910-/21/!Bbd8rWQBWk~$(KGrHqMH-DUEqu5HY5h,BKwL+I6iMw~~_35.JPG

They make a right mess of things when they blow and usually leave you stranded somewhere horrible Laughing

If you're thinking of tracking it, make sure the speed limiter is disabled or you'll get a litre bike in the back of you half way down the straight Wink

The forks look familiar. Was the bike red & black before you painted it?

Just sayin'
