I would think you would get about 70ish out of it. Depending on hills, headwinds, restrictions......how low you get your head down!!! Laughing

By the looks of it, its no different to the XR125.

I'm doing my test on one at the moment and to be honest, its quite powerless. Gets to 50mph quite easy then feels like its lost its grunt at about 55ish. I imagine it'll get to about 60 at most.

Still nice bikes to ride. Thumbs Up

If its a test centre loan bike its probably been abused from new, I know they're different engines but I rode a Suzuki DR125, got 72mph, and a Jailing Trail 125 (like a Honda XL) and got 70mph, they're both 4 stroke, so might be comparable. The acceleration was ok up to 55, then they just crept up.
Incidentally the first time the Jailing went off-road nearly every bolt on it vibrated loose, and an engine mount snapped.

XRs are all about the go under 50mph. From there til 65 tops, it takes an eternity - best not meet an incline. I guess with trail bikes, it's not about the top speed, but useability, practicality and robustness. My XR can barely manage 70, but if you want more info, feel free to PM me.

EDIT

Okay, general personal opinionson how the bike rides:

Arrow Good pickup in 3rd gear from 35-45mph - useful for overtaking cars in 30-40 zones
Arrow poor 1st gear - incorrectly spaced ration means that there's a characteristic trail bike style gap in power when you switch from 1st to 2nd
Arrow It's OK to do clutchless gearchanges on it!
Arrow Wheelies are quite pathetic - can only pop but can't sustain due to lack of power and insufficient time to sort out balance point
Arrow The rear tyre has too much grip to execute burnouts on dry tarmac - possible in wet roads and mud!
Arrow The rear rack can carry up to 10 kgs - carried a 30x30x50cm box on it before with relative eas
Arrow Insurance is cheap on TPO - 400 quid for student in London
Arrow It is possible to get your knee down on this bike, i've tried but not hard enough
Arrow A honda mechanic told me that it's possible to ride this bike to death without servicing due to the bulletproof CG engine - 100,000 miles possible
Arrow Choke is very annoying to get to and NEED choke to start in this time of year

So i guess that's the highlights about this bike, PM for more info

I art here Keith! Wink

I think there pretty good, thinking of getting one myself either that or a DT yamaha maybe next year.

Have to say they look a lotta fun, you stick a couple of lumpys on it andf take it off road if ya get bored with beating the tarmac.

P.s What you were saying about needing the choke this time of year am i the only one that will miss a kickstart!

So Spiral you have riden one am I correct? Can you please tell me how fast it can go?I think it would be a better choice than the Yamaha DT 125,because it is a 4 stroke and the DT is 2 stroke. So it will last much longer it might be a fraction slower than the DT,however I have read somewhere that is has more 'wooma' or 'sting' or whatever you want to call it.

P.S everyone my avatar picture is the Honda NXR 125 Bros for those of you who do not know how it looks.

A honda NXR 125 won't be just a fraction slower than a DT125, it'll be half the power.
A DTR (naughtily) de-restricted will easily do 85mph in a couple of hundred yards and be genuinely useful off the road with no more than a set of knobblies.
The NXR is more of an off road style commuter, reliable and good on petrol.
The DTR is more of a toy.
Personally I've not ridden a NXR, but I've rode similar bikes (4 stroke 125 off roaders) and owned a DTR.
I'd recommend ride both, preferably a derestricted DTR, and make your mind up then.

edit
The NXR ain't gonna be any faster than the Suzuki DR125 I rode, that did 72mph, but only just. You might get 80mph downhill, tailwind and laid flat on the tank, but you'd look daft.

A friend of mine used to have an N reg Honda SL125, that also did about 70mph.

As with any non highly-tuned 125 you'll hit about 70 tops with a long bit of a road and not much wind.

My bike makes almost bang on 11bhp and will just about hit 70. Mine's a 2 stroke my friend's cg125 does almost exactly the same top speed just gets there a lot slower.

Hope that helps.

my current bike's a moped, due to lack of CBT and a full car licence, it does 75mph with me sat upright. Very Happy
It WAS supposed to be 6bhp, don't know what it is now. Neutral

Well I have an XLR125R so I guess I can give a good insight into this. As said, it accelerated quite well up to about 60mph, but then is sluggish up to a max of about 70, which you'll only get if you are either along a straight or slightly down hill with either no wind or a bit behind you. This was what my 01 model did when I got it, after doing about 20,000 miles. About 2 weeks ago I got a rebore and piston kit, and have done about 800 miles since then, but still won't get back up to full speed, only had about 68 down a hill

I know that the Honda NXR 125 Bros is avaiable in Brazil and in South Africa, but it seems to me that the NXR 125 Bros in not avaiable in England. From what I read most of the users on this forum is from England. So if some of you know people in those countrys please try and find out how fast it can go.

P.S I am from South Africa. No I do not know someone who owns the bike.

Well someone from New Zealand told me that out of the box it can do 75.He also sed that with a bit of work done to the motor it can do 86.So I conclude that Honda NXR 125 Bros can do 75.I just wanted to thank you all for helping me.

The NXR 125 is THE best 125cc 4 stroke you can buy. it sure as hell craps on the cbr 125 on looks.

I have one, mine is an 09 electric start, but its pretty much the same bike as the older models.

its awesome, speed wise its not really meant to go over 90km/h (55ish MPH) altho it can go upto 130(80MPH) you'll just kill it.

around 55 you'll be ok and you dont really need to go faster, because if you did you wouldnt be getting a 125cc.

i will recommend this bike highly to anyone who is thinking of getting one.
here is a page with more info.

Looking for a manual/service manual in English. I have one in Brazilian/portuguese or something foreign. You can make sense of some of it being pictorial but would be nice to read the important bits. PS: I didn't buy it for speed so no aska da topin speedero 8O
