Hi

As per the title, I'm thinking about buying a little 125 scooter to do the short journey to work each day. I don't want to use my leathers which I wear for riding my proper bike. Need something that goes over the top of my work clothing in all and will keep me dry.

Anyone suggest anything they use for doing a similar job?

Thanks

How far is short? Will you be commuting in all weather? How much protection in your clothing do you want?

Most people would say get something with GoreTex, this means it is going to be a textile and, unless you pay a lot of money, it will have a drop lining. Over time the DWR washes out of the abrasive resistant textile outer, meaning you are pretty much sat with a wet paper bag over your waterproof shell. You get cold and probably worse of all, continued wet use makes it smell like a wet dog.

Once I've got some money I'll be moving from my nearly 4 year old and still waterproof GoreTex Dainese jacket and going for a leather jacket and buying a cheapish waterproof over top. No material to get wet and smelly, still dry, and still protective Thumbs Up

It's only about 9 miles each way. I want to stay dry as it'll be all weathers apart from snow and ice. I want to get to work dry and not looking like I've been rolling in puddles all the way there

I'd suggest some sort of over jacket and over trousers then. Personally I quite like the Rev'it gear and it seems to pretty hard wearing.

Just get something decent which will do all weather condition's with padding.

Don't care what anyone say's about distance, nothing's stopping you from having a 20mph crash 20 Yard's from your house. Distance really does not matter.
Hope this helps

Any old biker textiles with a twenty quid set of builders jacket and overtrousers on top will do the job, plus a pair of Millets gaiters for really crap weather.
