Thoughts on this bike? I don't normally keep bikes for longer than a year but the ZX10R has proved to be a worthy bike of keeping for another year or possibly until the first half of 2013 ( If the apocalypse doesn't kill us all ).

I do fancy a big supermoto type bike again but in the 900cc range and I think this bike looks stunning.

Apparently the first road bike husqvarna has made since 1930.

What do you think?

What do I think? Well, aside from the headlight and the exhaust, I think my trousers may have just become a slightly messy place to be.

My desk appears to be levitating...

Think there was a review/comparison of this and the BMW its based on a couple of months back in Ride. I'll see if i can dig it out and post anything relevant if you like.

Throw an akra on there and the head light is excusable! I think it's a stunning machine, really fallen for the look of the thing.

With an akra on...

Curse you. I've always hated I2s, but you've finally introduced me to one that I'm actually lusting after.

I like it, I want it, my head says get a hypermotard as it will be easier to sort out when it goes wrong. Laughing

Are they hard to get parts for? Assume with this being such a new model (2012) that it would be harder?

Because BMW definately aren't going bust anytime soon, and they have a decent size dealer network.

Great that means you'll be able to get some engine parts if required. Not the rest of it though.

Husqvarna have their own dealer network. And some BMW dealers cover both.

I like them alot, have done since i heard about the prototypes.
It looks like an agressive supermotard with a multicylinder engine and plenty of bhp with a decent dry weight too.

How it compares to a Ducati Hypermotard i don't know? The Ducati does also look awesome though.

TBH it's very hard to ask people opinions about these kind of bikes, as true supermoto enthusiasts say that they are all too big and heavy to be a true supermoto and there are far better ways to spend your money.

I personally like the looks, handling and the limited comfort of most enduro based 500cc+ supermotards, but i'd only ride one 100% on the road and for fairly short under 60mile distances on average. I don't think id like a single cylinder engine though, and getting a 2/3 or 4cyl engine in this style of bike and keeping the sharp focus and the weight to a reasonable level is the hardest thing to achieve.

You either get loads of power and weight together or a sub 55bhp single and nimble light handling. I've seen nothing new that could beat a Yamaha TDR250 for it's combination of usability, lightweight and with a revvy exciting powerdelivery as a purely road bike, but with purely supermoto styling and no compromises to comfort, long range touring and pillions etc.

That was my first thought as well. I've always wanted a Hypermotard since I saw this picture:

Totally impractical, definitely a second or perhaps third bike for when I'm more flush than I am now. I like the look of a Nuda too though Smile

Everytime I think back to my KTM 640, I remember how much fun it was just bimbling about on it. The ZX10 is a monster but it's only fun when you're thrashing it's head in (for me anyway). I kind of miss the fun factor from 0mph all the way up to 80mph odd, not 80mph +

Because BMW have only made one good performance orientated bike?

Uses a version of the F800 engine I believe.

Uninspiring.
