If the visor shuts all the way down 1) without leaving a gap and 2)without having to force it down with 2 hands?

I know its a crazy question but just had delivered a HJC helmet from Lidsdirect and the visor doesn't fully close shut.....there's a gap. You can get the gap closed a fraction by forcing the visor down hard with your hands.

Spoke to a sales guy there who says its that way on other HJC helmets and looks like its a 'feature'...(wtf!) Is sending some new brackets out for me to try but to be honest, I'm not holding out much hope.

So it would be a big help if any other HJC helmet owners could clarify this.

I've had half a dozen of them and I close the visor by pressing down on the top edge of the visor in the middle with one hand. Can't say it's been particularly difficult for any.

I like the mini-ratchet strap system Smile

I have an HJC FG-15, which I like. It does shut with a small gap, or with a bit of extra pressure it'll close all the way. I think it's less prone to fogging with the small gap. I can't say I've thought about it much except in the first week I had it.

Shouldn't need 2 hands to close it though, unless you have unusually small weak hands?

Mine has a black switch on the side of the visor that is designed to prevent the visor from shutting all the way. Have you tried flicking the switch?

Mine has the little gap to allow the visor to connect with the rubber bit,
dont worry about it.

This is as far as it will close (without giving it a right shove)

https://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j273/spenspuma/IMAG0522.jpg

Maybe it is normal?

Really odd cos my LS2 helmet visor fits perfectly and that's all that I really have to compare it to.

Try putting the helmet on, and going from fully open to fully shut. I bet it closes all the way then.

The last HJC i had, there were plates on the side (where the visor connects), that were at least slightly adjustable to allow you to sort this gap issue out. Try taking the visor off and looking for some screws in the plate, if you loosen them, you should be able to move it a bit.

Also, since its new, might I suggest RTFM? Very Happy

I think there's definitely something wrong with it. I've just checked out various photos of the HJC CS14 helmet on the internet and ALL their visors fully shut.

I've had a look at the pivot bracket and its in the lowest notch, so that's why it doesn't properly push down any further. I think its a fault with the brackets, its almost like there should be another notch to click it down one more to shut the visor.

Loosen the plastic screws (2 of each side, should be) in the side of the visor mech, jiggle and re-tighten.

My HJC FG-15 Prism is exactly the same, I can shut it fully but it's then difficult to re-open so I tend to avoid it. It's a handy feature I find, but it's definitely meant to behave the way it does

I will try that. I didn't realise they could be adjusted, I just thought the screws were there to fix the bracket to the helmet.

Thought that black switch was to lock the visor in place to prevent it lifting when looking behind ?

Use it more.

I've had 3 HJC helmets now, 2 of them from new. One was the CS-14.

The visor didn't shut fully, easily. It allows a small amount of air to come in and clear out the visor. If yours is like mine, that's not shut, that's "one click" from shut. You should be able to shut it with one hand though.

Stop being so gentle with it. Take you hand and rest it against the visor and then put it down with some force. Not an excessive amount, just some force. It'll shut easily. Don't do it from when it's just that "one click" left however, do it from fully open or nearly fully open.

My latest HJC (can't think of the model # right now) was like that too but now shuts with ease. I always do the above method whilst riding though. I usually end up shutting mine and then having to crack it up a click.

Also on mine the black "switch" is to remove the visor.

I own a HJC CL-ST, fantastic helmet. The visor can be closed completely with one finger.

Just got an HJC IS-Max BT for my birthday, visor goes down all the way no problem. Although I mainly ride with the flip front all the way up at the mo Smile

I'm fairly certain visors are designed to be shut at some point!

Perhaps as others have said it needs some opening and shutting to wear it a bit, if not take it back mate Thumbs Up

I have 6 HJC lids and no problems anywhere.
The advice above is exactly what I was gonna suggest. The black clip is designed to lock the visor closed but I generally engage it with the visor open so that it stops the visor closing all the way . . .

Exactly as your pic shows. Prevents fogging when you start getting up to a decent rate of knots. Smile
