I see lots of chat on here about handling issues, about big bikes can do this, cant do that.....

Just as a demonstration - Big bikes can do it .....

This is a Kawasaki 1400GTR (https://www.kawasaki.co.uk/Product/Details/340D3ADCBBC)

and this is a picture of me doing a demonstration at Hampshire Fire and Rescue in Southampton.

Motogymkhana will teach you how to do this - but its like everything - you have to want to do it and want to learn how to handle a bike properly. Please note, this is a standard bike (apart from an exhaust and a bit of bling).

Despite this being a massive spam, I've always been interested.

Problem is though I can't figure out how to give it a go - I want to click a button and go on one of the training days, but no...

That site is so poorly laid out, it's only preaching to the choir - I want a go as a noob, not pay £50 to become a member. I'm sure it's possible, but I can't be bothered trawling through your site to find it.

Oh, and do you have hire bikes rather than bringing down my own bike to learn such things?

Didn't think the website looked that bad to be honest but then I'm no web designer.
If you click on events they list experience days that are £15 for a few hours.
I have thought about giving it a go as well, my low speed bike control is pretty shocking so its something I'd like to improve.

Sorry guys, this is not intended to be spam. Sad. I hate the stuff.

Comments on the website are noted. We'll see what we can do.

Unfortunately, the season is nearly over, however, we have 1 experience day left on 15th September at Donington Park.

To try out on an experience day, it's only £15 this year. And providing there is availability, we have 3 AJP Supermoto for you to use on your experience free of charge. However my comment would be, that you will find it easier on your own bike.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer.

Sincere apologies.

Kind regards

Neil

Would you happen to know if MGK organisers are going to expand to other sites for experience days? The closest one I can get to is Dunsfold and even thats a fairly long journey!

How often do people crash during MGK OP?

How do you get your tyres warm before setting off on a run?

It looks like you use the accelerator and brakes to make it go faster and slower, then lean over for the turns. Thinking

Road legal bike, some cones, what's to figure out?

When I was doing some figure 8 practice at empty parking alone, I dropped my W650 so many times. I had engine guard and bike was fine but bike shop said "Oh you dropped your bike??" as if it was bad for evaluation. I think I should have covered my engine guards with some urethane foam or something to avoid damaging engine guards.
(Luckily I sold W650 to other shop just after kawa stopped W650 and before W800, they bought mine at good price.)
I read doing this sport with large machine should request you to be super rich. I heard when you drop Litre bike like ZRX1200 a few times then engine guards need to be replaced. Faired bike with no engine guards like GTR.. I can't imagine how much it will cost when you drop it Shocked .
I always wonder what happens if top riders try on twin bikes like TDM. I see a lot of 4cylinder, 2stroke, single(like DRZ) in this sport but very few of twin bikes. Can they ride fast on TDM too?

We are always looking for new sites and next year will be slightly different, bigger events.

This year we have run experience days at Donington, North Weald, Kempton Park, Dunsfold, And Manchester.

We are looking at trying to get a club structure together across the whole country, but this takes time, organization and most of all people wanting to give Motogymkhana a go.

We want this sport to grow.

To answer the question - how often do people crash?

How hard do you want to push it? I didn't crash until my 6-7th event including the first competition (which I won). Self preservation generally cuts in. The people that crash on the first event, are generally either overconfident in their ability or try too hard. Take on board what the instructors at telling you (Andrew, Will, Me, + a couple of others) and you will be fine. Go with an open mind in terms of your ability, you will be no different to either me or anyone else that learned to ride a bike in Britian.

Nothing wrong with the design - it's quite pretty. I did find the £15 link after typing that up.

It was meant to be constructive criticism, the site needs to be a bit more noob friendly. One page saying 'get started' with all the simple info and a buy it now link would sort everything.

Plus the 'sport' looks good - I've wanted some training since I saw those youtube vids of the Japanese police.

Any bike will do Motogymkhana!

I personally like 4's. I own a Modified 2011 ZX10R, the 1400GTR and I compete and teach Motigymkhana on a Z750R.

I'm not a motorcycle instructor, I work in an architects office 9-5:30.

Unmodified sports bikes are the hardest to learn the techniques, and large capacity twins are close up there due to the way they create their power, but generally, most people trust me to have a go on most bikes that turn up to a Motogymkhana

We have had a couple of TDM's and they do ok.

In terms of practicing figures of 8 in a car park, by all means go ahead, everyone can do a figure of 8 and with more practice you will get competent, but it will not teach you Motogymkhana.

Forget that I've raised this topic on Motogymkhana and think about this.... We see IAM, ROSPA, Police, Paramedics, motorcycle instructors, Racers, Stunt Guys, motorcycle Reporters, all sorts of people that are at the very top of motorcycle riding in the uk, they all say, they are amazed at different the techniques differ to everything else we do as Motorcyclists (including scooter riders).

This sport will show you what you can do on motorbike.

I'm now picturing everyone else crashing out harder... Very Happy

It does look ace, good luck with spreading it.

I think you need more experience days. I really fancy having a go at this, but i'm not going all the way to donington to do it. I'd attend the Touratech event to have a look, since they're near me, but it just says "More info soon…" Confused

More experience days. If I'd known it was £15 quid and I could use one of your bikes, Ida turned up like a bloody shot.
