Rode home today and out of the blue decided to make a seafood potjie. last minute decision.I invited a friend as I knew she likes seafood and likes potjies. But she couldnt make it. Too bad as she is a very decent lady, good morals, good character, and attrractive as well. She also rides a bike. Even if she is english, a very decent bird that would make any man proud.

Im not much of a fish person and prefer meat, but I figured, hey why not.

I kind of figured she wouldnt be able to make a last minute invite, but oh well, it is the thought that counts. The fact that you are considered.

Now the potjie. First, the fire

Then i must prepare the mussels and some hake

the other ingredients include parsley, garlic, lemon, thyme, tomato, onion. Not shown are butter cream and wine. Of course it is half cup of sauvingon blanc for the pot, and the rest of the bottle for me Mr. Green

once the wood is down to coals, the pot goes on

Then the butter, garlic, wine onions tomato and herbs

then add the seafood and simmer 15 min. then the lemon. another 10 min, then the cream. Then it is done

serve on jasmine rice

i figure prawns instead of hake. In a wine and cream, well prawns dont do it for me. If prawns were the main I would figure chili, garlic, butter and fry or braai.

Im not much of a seafood braaier though. Even coming from the eastern cape, i never did the snoek braai, prawn, sand mussel thing.

Really im more at tune with meat than seafood. so Im not sure.

I love prawns Very Happy

Had a nasty experiences with mussels once, which incidently used to be my favorite dish as a child (moul mariner).

Until my Dad poisoned me with a defrosted pot . . . he thought they were cooked and keeping warm.

Took me almost 20 years to be able to eat them again .. but somehow they are not so popular with me.

LOL. You welcome. Just bring costumes if you want to swim, and beer tins if the boy wants to ping away with my son's air rifle.
