Devils Advocate here. I saw both trucks and I would have lifted off just in case in that kind of situation. Last thing you want is to be squished between 2 trucks.

Avoidable? Perhaps not but you could have stopped in that time and reduced any impact.

Camera's never lie, but they can often mislead.

That lorry didn't start moving untill the rider was hopelessly close, he writes about taking defensive action & that can be seen if you're looking.

What amazes me, is I get very little sensation of emergency braking + he should have satisfied himself that if anyone did anything silly, he was travelling at a speed that he could minimise his risk of impact.

Remember boys, it is of absolutely no use to you one diddly squat that your not to blame for the accident, hitting a truck will always hurt you more than it.

I'm pretty, well, Careful, but I honestly don't think that I'd have expected that. Slow down too much and drivers who have seen you (which is most of them) can misinterpret and pull out/across you anyway.

The one point of criticism I'd make is that if he wasn't blethering on about this, that and whatever then he might have scrubbed more speed off rather than reflexively narrating the crash.
