Posted: 14:44 - 31 Aug 2012 Post subject: Halfords Professional Socket Set Reduced |
 |
|
Just got one of those pointless emails trying to sell me a new car radio. On the upside the Halfords £99.99 professional (Lifetime Guarantee) socket set is reduced to £69.99. I am tempted but I have 90% of what it offers already:
https://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_163079_langId_-1_categoryId_255215#tab1
edit: There are also loads of other tools reduced quite considerably. But this is the one that caught my attention. ____________________ Riding: BMW R1150RT `02 bought mildly crashed
Fixing: Also the BMW as I get less broken bits
Gone: ZZR600 '00, TRX850 '97, RXS100 '93, JS125-6B '07, BMW R1100RS '93, Kawasaki ZX-6R-J2 '01, Honda Bros NT400 NC25 '88

I've have several ratchets fail My dad has a quality britool one from years again however than is impervious to me.
Quality 12 point sockets are a must, imo. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

A question to all of us with "lifetime guarantee" tools...
Where is the receipt?...
Personally, I think the halfords stuff is pretty good but I don't like 12 point sockets. 6 point or even better, 6 point surface drive would be a good idea if you are building a tool set from scratch. |

Seem a very good buy actually, if i was looking for tool's i would buy this
Currently i have a Blue point 200 Piece Socket set with spanners and sockets etc...
Then the rest of my tools have been brought individually
Even the best Quality snap on break's, i have broken 2 deep snap on chrome sockets within them being 6 month's old ____________________ RIP jack (wheelie king), you will never be forgotten.

They wouldn't replace the ball lock on my long 1/2" extension bar because it was a "mechanical part"
I had planned to put it in a press at work and bend it, but I can't find it now |

+1 on staying away from 12 point sockets. I've gone through a number of 12 point sockets that "burst" when failing on rusted up nuts. For the larger nuts (10mm and above) I've gotten on well with a set of hardened 6 point 1/2 inch drive rated for impact wrench use; and a 1/4 inch 6 point set for the rest. ____________________ Bikes: S1000R, SH350; Exes: Vity 125, PS125, YBR125, ER6f, VFR800, Brutale 920, CB600F, SH300x4
