Hello!

Bit of a weird one.........

I've got a 2011 Honda CBF 1000 AB.

After a period of inactivity, causing a flat battery, i replaced the battery and keep it on a trickle charger every night.

I have no issues starting the bike first time when i first set off for the day,

However;

If i do a 10 minute run to the petrol station, or, have to re-start the bike, for whatever reason, it sometimes struggles to start, taking 2 or 3 attempts.

A local mechanic states that he had checked all of the wiring, electrics and common problems areas, but doesn't have a clue why this happens.

Any ideas? Shocked

Possible fuel starvation due to a clogged up inline fuel filter or the air intake to the fuel tank is clogged - blast some compressed air into the air intake tube either that it's possible the internal fuel filter of the fuel tank is clogged up not allowing a good flow of fuel to your carbs.

Remember the carbs themselves hold about 5-10 minutes worth of riding time, and once used up there is lack of fuel in there is more fuel being used up than what is being replaced - fuel starvation!

If your bike has been for quite a while with a low amount of fuel in the tank you may have rust particles clogging up the internaltank filter either way an inline fuel filter is best to avoid the carbs themselves also getting clogged later on if those particles finally reach it!

A reserve tank will hold more than a petrol can's worth of fuel just to keep in mind if you're thinking of draining the tank to inspect the fuel tank's internal fuel filter.

The bike is fuel injected.

Ok, yeah a lot of the newer bikes are fuel injected these days making it more interesting when problem arise!

So have they checked to see if the fuel injectors are clogged up or working properly to spec?

If it's a 2011 bike won't it still be in the warranty period?

As Joe said, does't it have 2 years Honda warranty? Take it to a dealer and ask them to sort it out. Least the fault will be easy to show them. Thumbs Up

Yeah cheers guys.

I'm trading it in against a GSX1250FA so I just wanted a steer as to what it might've been.

I need the bike until I get the other one so I'll try and get it in to a Honda dealer at some point. Failing that, I'll see if the dealer knows about it.
