I had him pinned as an ecomental tosser with the sole merit that he's doubtless eaten a few useless species into extinction, but after being dragged along to a lecture, he was a bit of a surprise in person.

Very focussed, razor sharp, and I was creasing myself at the charmingly brutal way he shot down inane and sometimes hostile questions from the assembled vegetards, druids and feminazis: hunting is more 'natural' than agriculture; direct human actions like mining, deforestation, over grazing and conflict has a far bigger effect on marginal people than 'climate change'; yes, he presents a primarily male perspective, because he's a man. Polite but absolutely no waffle and by the end of each exchange, the questioners were all smiling and nodding along.

Actually, the Black Books "Travel Writer" (especially 19:10) episode is quite spookily accurate. Charismatic motherfucker, and no mistake.
