Not at other bikes this time but transport off 4 wheeled variety.Ok let me explain.Every time i see somebody start to pull out of a junction layby etc and theysee me and reverse back into where there coming from i give them a nod of the head and a thumbs up just to say thanks for spotting me and doing the correct thing in not pulling out on me..I think this gives the driver a nice little smile and encourages them to keep a eye for bikes and become another friendly driver Very Happy I think this also gives them a good imperession of bikers that we do actually appreciate them keeping an eye out for us and were not all bad.I know it wont make the roads a safer place over night but it can't hurt can it.

Am i the only one to do this ?Or do any more of my fellow bikers do the same Very Happy

Yeh I always nod to people who are considerate and behaving properly ha.

Equally I also let people know what I think of them if they don't behave properly! :p

I do the same, always have done. That's why I get so pissed off when I let someone out/go and they dont even thank me. Really is one of my pet hates.

Agreed, in fact lately I've found myself nodding at people who give way to me on a roundabout, even though its my right of way!

I always get a warm fuzzy feeling when someone on a bike gives me a little thank you for moving over to the left when they over take me Smile

As a car driver I used to let people out...I don't bother now..maybe once in a while, and then regret it as they either dawdle or they travel 100yrds and take the next right. Same with those that let themselves get stuck behind a bus...you flash them out..they dither..you hold back because you've offered them an escape route...they dither...You pin it.

Today on the bike I was waiting to turn right to fuel up. Another bike approaches and I expected it to ride by (big gap in traffic behind it) but no, it decided to slow down...was it about to turn in to the station too? Had it seen something I hadn't? No it was fannying around, waiting for me to turn.

I'm the same. Always give a wave. I usually thank people that pull over as I'm filtering past too.

Always give them a nod or thumb up if they make way for me.
Been over the IOW for past two weeks and the drivers seem very bike friendly, giving way to me, or letting me go first at junctions Thumbs Up

Let the dude above do whatever the hell he wants.

I tend to give the 'thanks for not killing me' thumbs up whenever someone is about to do something stupid in front of me (or to the side/behind me) but only because I fear giving the middle finger will one day result in some pillock running me over for it.

Sentence reduced to a cuff to the back of the head on appeal.

I'll always give a nod or wave if someone spots me & doesn't pull out in front of me, as you say it might encourage the driver to keep a look out again for one of us. Alway give a thanks when I'm driving the car as well, doesn't cost anything to be polite. Rolling Eyes

the way some people act you'd think it costs your soul, arm and leg.

for some people being polite is much like having teeth pulled.

Yup, thumbs up from me.

I also make use of the kill switch on the R1 for those cagers who just need a little wake up call.

You know the ones, mid 40s, usually women, driving with their window down, not entirely sure what is going on around them. The only thing they are concentrating on is what they can see directly in front of them.
Yeah, we've all seen them.

I find rolling off as I am side by side with them, quick flick of the kill switch on the Dynojetted 98R1 gives the loudest bang I've ever heard. Laughing

Oh dear! I know I shouldn't laugh at this as it'll only encourage you, but what a brilliant game!!! I'm now tempted to see if I can get a horn fitted on my new bike that will blast out some really inappropriate noise(s) to scare numpty cage drivers...

Having said that, I like to think that I am a considerate road user and I always say thanks when driving my cage or my bike, but I have been known to have screamng fits of rage at people who don't give the "thank you" wave for my consideration.
One of my (many) pet hates is drivers who seem unable to think ahead... they're sat in a slow moving queue of traffic and you're waiting to turn out of a side road through their queue.... do they leave a gap and wave you through?? do they f%^k!! they move up to close the gap so you have to wait ages, with traffic behind you, and wonder why you sit glaring at them. PAH!
