Iv got a mate that wants...no needs to derestrict his scooter. Im comfortable navigatin myself around a bike, but scooters are very different, i dont know the first place to start on that pocket sized engine. If I at least knew where the air filter was I could make some enhancements.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, google was no help!

Thanks kindly.

It was no help because they ain't restricted. They are built to a speed (in this case about 28mph IIRC). You could try tuning it up in all the normal 2-stroke ways (spanny pipe, high flow filter, polishing ports, decreasing squish band, overboring etc. etc.), but it will eventually explode and is frankly, not worth the effort on a melody..

Taking the shopping basket off the front removes about 2kg and cuts down the aerodynamic drag a bit. Laughing

They are a good, honest moped but your mate will have to realise that if he wants to go fast on it, this is not the bike for him.

On the plus side, they will do over 200mpg.

Try standing outside Tesco’s and shake a tin with a sign saying……….
“i have a mate with a melody 50, please help”
You should get him a decent bike in no time.

Cheers
