Welcome to BCF. Best advice, as said above, listen to the instructors as they do know what they are doing. But anything you need to know you will find a wealth of information here in the forums.

Many of us have been through DAS and the bigger bikes are easier to ride, oddly enough, just be prepared for the power jump.

Yup as the others said " listen to the instructors ". You may think you can ride a bike ( just like I did ) , but you really can't until you learn how to do it properly. Excited is the right frame of mind as your going to enjoy yourself, best of luck with your training and test mate.

P.S. Passed my tests ( same day ) on Tuesday Very Happy

Welcome and good luck.

I agree with the above comment that you'll probably find the 500 easier to handle than the 125. I know I did. Just remember those lifesavers Thumbs Up

GS500 is a great learner bike, you'll love it. There'll be no going back to a 125 afterwards.

To my surprise it wasn't a Suzuki GS500, we were treated to the Yamaha XJ600...and what a bike that is!! We got the spend the last 2 hours of our 4 hour session playing with it, what a difference it is compared to the YBR.

Still thoroughly enjoying the course. 1 more session then our instructor thinks we're ready for our mod 1 test, nearly there!!

My Module 2 was yesterday afternoon and im pleased to say iv passed!!

I cant believe after 6 sessions over 4 weeks (2 riding sessions, 1 CBT, Mod1, Mod 2) that i now have an un restricted bike license Surprised

Celebrated last night, didnt realise it was such a big deal to some of my family members....but to celebrate with champagne i think il do a bike test more often Razz

I had 5 minors on the sheet. 1 could have been a fail if a car was in the junction just before joining the dual carriageway, (im indicating left to show im going left at the junction and just before it theirs a stupid left turn onto a minor road). Was pretty lucky with that i guess but if their was a car there then i would have taken the turn instead of mis informing the car driver and getting a major!

Let the 'sensible' fun begin Very Happy

Normally when im on these stupid o clock shifts in work im like a walking zombie but so far iv been bouncing about still buzzing from it all. I passed with a friend at the same time so hes bounding around like a pup! (im 24 hes 21 so meant a little more to him due to the up coming changes)

Felt a bit tender yesterday after the celebrations but iv recovered now. Cool

I spent all of yesterday afternoon pricing up the kind of bikes that i would consider getting for a first bike for a max £2500.

Im considering a XJ600, Fazer, ER6N.

Swinging towards the XJ600 due to doing my sessions on them and my tests so it would be the natural choice but im going to eventually test ride the other 2 and compare. Insurance for them all was like £320 tpft so ideal! Would prefer Fully Comp but its double that, depends on how much the bike is i guess.

Thumbs Up

You're exactly the same as me and probably a lot of others.
My lessons and tests were on an XJ6 and at first I got cramp from the different riding position.
To be fair, I had been riding it for about 5 and a half hours that day before cramp set in.
Now I'm looking for either an XJ or even a GSX after sitting on my mates bike and discovering its more comfortable than it appears.

I find the seat angle on the ER6 tilts me just a bit forward too much which might be a pain in the wrists on longer trips.

The Fazer is comfortable for me but the looks don't float my boat. Wink

Congrats mate, just seen your thread too Thumbs Up

Would love a gsx but the insurance doesnt like me. I forgot to mention the Bandits are looking quite appealing to me too.

Their is a nice ER6N 08 plate 8,000 miles, Green, 'mint condition' for £2600 ono near me and im tempted to snap his hand off, sounds like a good deal to me! But we shall see what bill smiths has to offer on Tuesday. Im surprised the wife is nudging me to buy a bike Mr. Green
